It was a teammate of mine that made all the difference to me, and I dont mean out on the football field. I was a Christian playing football, but not really living like a Christian should. My friend grabbed me under his wings and showed me what it means to live this walk, just following God. From there, the fire just built.
Today, I have a solid foundation. I can handle the different challenges coming my way because I know I have a Father who cares about all my needs. I have a relationship with the God who created me, the God who created football. That is awesome. But it has been a process. I had to recognize that Im not a loser and that God actually cares about me, despite all my downfalls. And all your downfalls dont just go away when you become a Christian. When I broke my leg during my second year in the NFL, I was mad at God. Then I realized that it wasnt God who broke my leg, and I used that time to grow closer to Him.
It is a great feeling, knowing He is bringing comfortalmost like He is wrapping His arms around you. You just feel his love and know that everything is going to be okay. Life now is better. I wouldnt want to go back to life without Christ.
