Bishop H. Burke Peterson, who was the First Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric at the time answered:

My mormon mother-in-law, the one who kept a pitcher of ice tea in the refrigerator because the WOW said hot drinks, used to make barley beer every holiday time...she always had to set aside a gallon for the bishop...many times I got tipsy on that beer, but it was OK because it didn't come from a liquor store. ;o)
