It describes alot of people who profess to be Christians today and is a huge reason that our Christian nation is in the sad shape it is.
I get tired of turning on "Christian Television" and getting shallow, pompous, blowhards. I've got 6 "Christian" tv stations, and can seldom find worthwhile content.
Even one of my favorite on air preachers has his own (first name) (middle initial) (last name) Bible.
Today, whether its tv, church buses or church signs, pastors feel its necessary to promote their names out there. (granted, there is a time and place for a persons name)
Today, ordinary Christians are caught up in it. "I go to this church" "So-n-so is MY pastor" "I watch this show" "I've read that book"
Flipping through the channels there was a pastor saying "Jesus would want us to have healthcare", at which point I turned the channel. Churches have turned away from a RESPONSIBILITY to take care of their own, to feel good service to the community. We have food pantries and food drives, to "reach out" to the community, to "help meet the needs" of others, so that WE feel good. Where is the younger generation taking in the older generation? Where is the older generation being involved with the much younger generation? Where is the church actually LOOKING OUT for the widows and infirmed? Not just a phone call or visit, but actually TAKING RESPONSIBILITY to meet the need? Not just part of a need, but making sure the entire "need" is met.
We have become like society, and abdicated to the government, so that WE don't have to be bothered. And yet the good things we do, we want to FEEL GOOD about, no matter how small and insignificant they are.
