I appreciate your clarification and retraction of claims you made that were plainly not true. Would that we all were so quick to clean up after ourselves. One slight issue with what you said:

Therefore by defending that article you have in affect stated that you agree with this line of reasoning.

That’s not true. Besides, the article does not state things in the way you have, i.e., “God divorced Israel in order to marry the Church.” You’re reading far too much into it.

But to the basic substance of your comments:

I did answer this question, I just didn’t answer you. Bluntly put, I do believe that God the Father is married to Historical Israel while Christ is betrothed to and will be married to the Church. They are seperate persons of the Godhead and, as such, there is no problem with having two different persons married to two seperate peoples. Same God, different persons.

And here is the issue, the notion that God is essentially a bigamist. You can dress this up as a person vs. person thingy, but the fact is there is only one true God acting with one revealed will. The essence of the Marcion heresy was that the OT god and the NT god were distinct and therefore exercised different wills, one being much more likeable than the other.

5 For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.
6 For the Lord has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a youthful wife when you were refused," Says your God. (Isa. 54)
There is no differentiation in this passage, or in any other passage using similar “wife of God” language that distinguishes between Father and Son in the Godhead. The husband here is called “your redeemer.” Christ is the redeemer of the people in the plan of God. Similarly:

14 "Return, O backsliding children," says the Lord; "for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. (Jer. 3)
Who is it that offers His salvation to Israel and “brings them to Zion?” In the economic sense, it is Christ who performs our redemption and brings us to the Father. There is only one mediator between God and men. And, thus, there is only one God with one bride.

I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know That I, the Lord, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob." (Isa. 49:26)
Some people, incorrectly, think of the Father when they read of God in the OT. The fact is that God has always revealed Himself through the second person of the trinity. It was the re-incarnate Christ who appeared to Abraham and gave the Law to Moses on Sinai. It is Christ speaking in these passages on behalf of the triune God.

I realize you have not offered support for your views from the Bible. Perhaps you can, or perhaps this is just part of the larger package of error you have latched onto.

Whether your view is heresy or borders on heresy, I’m not sure. The distinction is lost on me. It certainly does divide the Godhead in a way not sanctioned from the Scriptures. You end up with essentially tri-theism.

God has only one wife. All other views and defective and betray a false view of the God of Scripture.

It’s not that we don’t believe in Laws, it’s that we believe that we cannot set up the Kingdom without the presense of the King and therefore Law/no-Law is not an issue for us as we’re focused on preparing for His return.

I grieve for my Jewish friends, who struggle through life without a Savior, and for my Dispys friends, who struggle through life without a present, reigning, Lord. The first group aren't even on the train that's bound for glory. The second group are riding the undercarriage, like hobos, when they should be serving as porters, conductors, stewards, and even engineers.

If Jesus is Lord, we have something to celebrate, a Kingdom given us by a Father for His good pleasure, and stuff to do in this life. If Jesus isn't Lord, at least not here, at least not yet, then the gospel is no longer a pattern and point and purpose for all of life, but simply a form of religious self-pleasuring and self-congratulation, a gnicer gnosis, a mystical experience detached from all the non-religious parts of life.

The Dispys sure need to "dispense with" a lot of the Bible to make their assertions credible. For example, what do you do with Matthew 18:20? Let alone Matthew 28:18-20? Well, even when face-to-face with the risen Lord, "they worshipped him: but some doubted." Even when face-to-face with the historical record of all that God's people have achieved for His glory over the centuries, the Dispys find themselves unable to man up and act responsibly.

You know, I’ve often heard this accusation and while I have read a Schofield Bible, it’s been ages ago. How does it match up against other translations, such as the KJV or the NASB?

When folks refer to the “Scofield Bible,” they are usually referring to the Notes written by “Dr.” Scofield that were eventually added to the text of the KJV Bible. Scofield did not create a new translation of the Bible itself.

>>and for my Dispys friends, who struggle through life without a present, reigning, Lord.<<

I’ve seen you sling that mantra before and it’s blatantly false. It could actually be argued that the dispensationalists believe the greater influence by a reigning Lord in that they believe He is in total control and doesn’t need to rely on the people.

>>they should be serving as porters, conductors, stewards, and even engineers.<<

A humanist would believe that to the extreme.

You’ve given me quite a bit to think on here, especially concerning my preconceptions in this matter. If you would allow time to consider the subject a little, I’ll gladly respond. One thing that I would like to answer immediately though is touching the idea of Dispys holding to a form of the Marcion heresy. While I now see what you were trying to say, I want to make it perfectly clear that I, as well as all the other Dispys that I know, in no way, shape, form or fashion believe that the God of the OT and the God of the NT are different. I believe in One, and only One, Yahweh.

I’ll be back once I’ve given this more thought.

You are mistaken in what I meant when I said that the King was not present. He’s not here yet physically, just as His Kingdom is not yet here physically. I have no problem at all with saying that the Comforter is here, physically, while the King is at His Father’s side, just as I have no problem saying that the Father has given the Keys to the Kingdom to Christ. My problem is in saying that the Kingdom, physically, has been established or even can be established yet.

Just because the Keys have been given to Christ doesn’t mean that He has taken physical possession of the Kingdom yet. That doesn’t change His right to that Kingdom, neither does it change the fact that He will establish that Kingdom, it just means that it hasn’t happened yet. That’s the difference.

Clear as mud yet? ;)

Ahh, so it’s a commentary, much like those of J. Vernon McGee, Chuck Smith or even D.L. Moody. Got it, I thought that it was a full translation, not just a commentary.

You do have a remarkable flair for distortion. You were writing to someone who believes in Predestination while you write from a position of Free Will. Predestination teaches strong determinism, Free Will pretends that the Almighty God who Created all things is control of everything except - everybody. Your god can't save unless you authorize him to. Your god can't sanctify unless you voluntarily relinquish control. Now how can you believe in a god that controls all things but doesn't even have any authority over you? What about the billions of people, some who are in political power who don't allow God any part of their lives?

It is absurd to simultaneously preach "Free Will" while saying that God is in "total control" - that is unless you really want to earn that Premillennial Dysfunctionalism title.

Shalom!

Here are a number of Old Testament references that help us to arrive to the conclusion that Yahshuah haMashiach is the central focal point of all scripture, including the Tanakh...

Old Testament Messianic Prophecies
Fulfilled Concerning Jesus Christ

ALL of these prophesies were made hundreds, some thousands, of years before Jesus Christ was born. Looking in the face of how He literally fulfilled them all (plus hundreds more), it is an impossibility that He is not Messiah, Saviour of the world. The ONLY person... past, present or future... who could fulfill all these prophecies is Jesus Christ. See His genealogy starting from faithful Abraham.

The following passage are presented first with the topic, the the reference from the Tenakh/Hebrew Bible, the the New Testament fulfillment passage from the New Testament:

Not sure what your comment about Isaiah 53 was for, since Isaiah 53 is about Israel, the nation/people.

Isaiah 53 JPS
Isaiah 53 KJV

53:1 'Who would have believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of YHWH been revealed?
1   Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
53:2 For he shot up right forth as a sapling, and as a root out of a dry ground; he had no form nor comeliness, that we should look upon him, nor beauty that we should delight in him.
2   For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
First problem.  The JPS renders the verse in the past tense.  The KJV uses future and present tense.
53:3 He was despised, and forsaken of men, a man of pains, and acquainted with disease, and as one from whom men hide their face: he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
3   He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
The JPS uses past tense.  The KJV uses present tense.
These verses describe the amazement of the world when they see the Jewish people redeemed. In particular, these verses describe how the nations "despised" the Jewish people and gave "no regard" for them. The reason it is written in the singular is because the Jews are regarded as one body, called "Israel." There are many instances of the Jewish people being referred to with a singular pronoun throughout the Torah.  Israel gets redeemed as shown in Zechariah 8:23.

Zechariah 8:23
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
53:4 Surely our diseases he did bear, and our pains he carried; whereas we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
4   Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
These verses explain how nations punished Israel for their own reasons.  Throughout the last two thousand years of the Jews' exile from their homeland, a startling pattern emerges. Whenever the people of a gentile country weren't doing well, whether politically or economically, the non-Jews sought to put blame on someone for their ills. Quite often the Jews. From the perspective of the gentile kings speaking in this narrative, "he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows" refers to blaming the Jews for everything from economic failure to the Black Death. The easily-used excuse made by the Christians and the Muslims was that the Jews were rejected of G-d. This is the view of the gentile kings being expressed by the second half of the verse.
53:5 But he was wounded because of our transgressions, he was crushed because of our iniquities: the chastisement of our welfare was upon him, and with his stripes we were healed.
5   But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Again the JPS uses the past tense, while the KJV uses past and present tense.
The healing is the end of the sickness of anti-Semitism that the nations will experience when they receive the revelation about the Jews at the End of Days.  The Redemption of Israel.  See Zechariah 8:23 above.
53:6 All we like sheep did go astray, we turned every one to his own way; and YHWH hath made to light on him the iniquity of us all.
6   All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
This verse is talking again about how the gentile nations had laid their problems on the Jewish people. i.e. inciting violence against the Jews with blood libels, ficticious literature like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, etc.
53:7 He was oppressed, though he humbled himself and opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before her shearers is dumb; yea, he opened not his mouth.
7   He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Verse seven prophesizes regarding the many hardships they would endure in their exile. A look at history will prove that these prophecies have already become true. In the 11th century CE Jews were "persecuted and afflicted" by crusaders who brutally tortured and killed Jews in the name of their lord Jesus. In this century the Nazis "led" the Jews "to the slaughter" like a "lamb that is silent before her shearers."
Can verse 7 apply to Yehoshua?  Matthew 26:39 has Yehoshua praying to YHWH to help him avoid his fate, so Yehoshua did open his mouth.  Yehoshua opens his mouth again, while on the cross in Matthew 27:46 saying "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"  So, no, it seems that verse 7 does not apply to Yehoshua.
53:8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and with his generation who did reason? for he was cut off out of the land of the living, for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due.
8   He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
Having been "exiled" from the "Land of the Living" (the Land of Israel) it appeared to the world that the Jews would die out all together.
53:9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich his tomb; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.'
9   And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
There are countless stories throughout history, of Jews who were given the alternative to accept Jesus or die by the edge of a sword.  Instead of profaning themselves with conversion they "submitted themselves to the grave" and died the death of a common criminal. Also "wealthy" Jews were executed while "committing no crime," only so that they could robbed of their riches.
53:10 Yet it pleased YHWH to crush him by disease; to see if his soul would offer itself in restitution, that he might see his seed, prolong his days, and that the purpose of YHWH might prosper by his hand:
10   Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
First of all, the word used for 'seed' is zera` zeh'-rah, which refers to physical children. YHWH desired to oppress him (Israel) "because they deserved to be punished for their sins. If the Jews would only "acknowledge" their "guilt" they would be able to see their "offspring
and live long days."
53:11 Of the travail of his soul he shall see to the full, even My servant, who by his knowledge did justify the Righteous One to the many, and their iniquities he did bear.
11   He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Here the narration changes from the gentile kings to YHWH Himself. From this point on, the chapter is foretelling the reward that YHWH will grant Israel for enduring the exile and never losing faith in Him  .Verse eleven talks about Israel, and how they will teach all the nations about YHWH.
Does verse 11 speak of Yehoshua? Where in the New Testament is it told that Yehoshua's knowledge vindicated anybody?  "by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many" The writings of Paul say that it is Yehoshua's blood that justifies, not Yehoshua's knowledge! So, no, verse 11 does not seem to be about Yehoshua either.
53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion among the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the mighty; because he bared his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
12   Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Verse twelve talks of how the Jews pray for the welfare of the nations they are exiled into.

Mostly commentary, and a few other things like cross-references and indices.

I don’t know if it will make a difference, but it’s quite clear to me that being predestined for salvation and yet still retaining your own freewill is actually quite obtainable.

Just because something has been forseen, or determined in advance, does not mean that freewill is not at play. All it means is that God, in His infinant wisdom, saw the future course we would take and those who accepted salvation had salvation predestined to them. My freewill, such as it is, has not been removed and yet God’s salvation of me was still predetermined from before the dawn of time.

Furthermore, if we really don’t have freewill, then of what value is our salvation to God? He receives no glory for it, since He forced us into it. Do you really believe that God would force Himself on anyone? I don’t.

I’ll be back once I’ve given this more thought.

I look forward to it.

I realize that. And probably it was not intentional, but then dispensationalism when through it extremist phase of dichotomizing everything in the Bible – kingdom of heaven/God, earthy/heavenly people, wife of Jehovah/bride of Christ, etc, - the effect was to cross the line, or come very close, to reintroducing some ancient heresies. This was often done by folks who had little or no knowledge of these heresies and what it took to avoid them, and how to instruct their followers in these weighty matters. In their zeal to “rightly divide the word of truth” they went overboard.

There you go again, mischaracterizing Dispys as somehow not carrying out the Great Commission. Do you even know any Dispys in real life? I mean, really, do you?

I know many, many, many Christians who are Dispensationals who are extremely busy working to see the Gospel preached to the lost, new Churches planted to instruct new converts after they’re saved and working to make sure that the needs of the Body of Christ are met. How can you say that we don’t carry out the Great Commission or seek to care for the Body as we were told to do? Where do you get this stuff?

So now that we understand each other, how do you explain the difference between the Wife of Jehovah and the Bride of Christ? If God cannot be married to two different people, why the second wedding? It’s clear that the Wedding Supper of the Lamb, which happens just before Christ’s return for His Bride, the Church, is long after God declares Israel to be His wife. What am I missing here?

dispensationalists believe the greater influence by a reigning Lord in that they believe He is in total control and doesn’t need to rely on the people.

Of course He doesn’t need anything. He’s God after all. But He does ordain means, including human means, to accomplish His perfect, holy, and sovereign will.

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, " All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matt. 28)
We are given marching orders, “Go therefore,” precisely because Jesus has been given “all authority.” We can expect to see gospel success in this age.

Christ reigns over the nations, and we are His vice-regents, instructing the nations to do His perfect will.

All this I can agree with, and we do see the success of the Gospel to a certain degree, but a physical Kingdom will not be established until Christ returns and sets His throne in Jerusalem. This is still contested territory after all and while we’re sure of the outcome, it’s not to say that we are going to have a walk over until He returns.
