While I’d take issue in detail with your characterization of the Catholic Church, I understand the point and concede that it is not now, never has been, and never will be, perfect. Although you have no idea how difficult it is to say this, the Catholic Church is the only one Christ left us and we have to decide whether we are going to be a part of it or not.
There, and I about choked on that because it took me thirty plus years of my life realizing it and there’s a lot of baggage left from that thirty years.
I think that historically the Coptic Church in Egypt is probably the oldest of the Christian denominations. I have many problems with the corruption that has occured in the Catholic Church through the years. They really missed a bunch of WWJD moments from the Inquisition, the Avignon Papacy. The commissioning of Armys like Sir John Hawkwood to attack cities for political power. The excommunication of other Popes followers when there was both a Pope in Avignon and one in Rome etc etc etc. Not correcting the problems with Sexual abuse by Priests. There are abuse problem in Protestant Church's also but it is self limiting. The Frist legal action brought because of RECURRENT pedophilia among Priests was in the 1970’s in Louisiana. The Church has not really dealt well with this issue well. This is not Catholic Bashing (I graduated from a Catholic College). It is just historical fact!
