The late Lubavitcher Rebbe explained Maimonides’ language in the Mishneh Torah when he noted that Jews are “to compel all the inhabitants of the world to accept the Commandments in which the Children of Noah were commanded.” The Rebbe explained that ‘to compel’ did not mean by force, but rather to teach over and over, regardless of rejection.
