It isnt that I discount it. Jesus says JTB is Elijah and Luke is also indicating the same thing. Lukes angel is saying that" And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteousto make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
This is a quotation of Malachi 4:5,6 right? Well, Malachi 4:5 says Elijah will do these things. The angel says JTB will do those things. Jesus says JTB is Elijah therefore JTB MUST have been Elijah. Furthermore, this prophecy was not fulfilled at the time of JTB. It is a big problem.
Even if Jesus meant "in the spirit and power" it doesnt solve the problem. Milachi says Elijah will restore...the angel said he (JTB as spirit of Elijah) will restore. JTB didnt restore anything. And JTB denies his role of Malachi 4. But says he is Isaiah 40:3 and that is an endtimes prophecy of Israels redemption. It is all a big problem.
I think it’s a ridiculous statement also. Not saying something “big” isn’t about to happen — I think it is — but the world has seen far worse than today, in so many ways.
>>It is all a big problem.<<
Only to you. You are obviously intent on your course so you need to find someone else to discuss this with.
No matter what you say to these people, their Protestant Bible contains a "new testament" and therefore says that J*sus is the messiah, and that's all that matters to them. They may attack Catholics for believing in the Apocrypha and mormons for believing the "book of mormon" (and moslems for believing the qur'an), but they refuse to think critically about the Protestant Bible, which for them is the ultimate arbiter of all things whatsoever.
I used to think I could reason with these people, but unfortunately it's a brick wall. You can't get them to think critically about the "new testament" because it's in their Protestant bible, and that's all that matters to them.
It's a good thing their Protestant bible teaches there's a G-d. If it didn't, these people would be atheists!
Especially considering the idea of a pretrib rapture is only a few hundred years old.
Yes ZC...you have offered this word to me before..I suspect you are right. That is okay. Sometimes it just has to be said. Funny, that most of these folk are conservatives who can critically think regarding liberalism just not about the NT.

Will check it out.
Thx.
I’m inclined to agree about Enoch and Elijah.
We shall see.
Already posted, silly.

So, are they at “hand” once a year, around this time? Or was the get-together delayed due to weather.
I thought I bumped into them at the mall the other day.
The two witnesses are the NT Church, the language is obviously figurative, not literal. The world will rejoice as the great apostacy takes hold, as the Church will lose its testimony. When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?

Doesn't matter anyhow, Ben Stiller married a shiksha. End of Story
The late Lubavitcher Rebbe explained Maimonides’ language in the Mishneh Torah when he noted that Jews are to compel all the inhabitants of the world to accept the Commandments in which the Children of Noah were commanded. The Rebbe explained that ‘to compel’ did not mean by force, but rather to teach over and over, regardless of rejection.
The soul can hear what the brain rejects.
I am ashamed to admit I've never thought of that.
All the same, be prepared to be frustrated out of your gourd.
Hey papabrody- and to you as well B”H, fighting for truth.
