>>Why is it Cynical we always seem to go around in circles?<<

It’s because we focus from a different direction. You and I may both believe the same thing in our hearts but how we communicate to others is important. I don’t focus on the works because too many people interpret that as “works are needed to earn part of our salvation”.

I try to be very careful to not allow anyone to think that. I don’t want to cause anyone to stumble. I’m not saying you do. With a focus on works, tithes, or any legalistic view I believe that many, if not most, of the churches today, including the RCC are allowing the wrong message to be taken by too many people.

I hope that made sense to you.

You do make sense.

I think too, that I tend to be on the defense, though not defensive.

As long as we can discuss without acrimony I enjoy hearing your understanding of Scripture. Contrary to commonly held thought here, the Church does not restrict exploration of Scripture.

Obviously as a Catholic, I am firmly rooted in the Catholic understanding. It is not that I am incapable of thinking outside the Catholic box, it is that having accepted the church, I am content to explore within that understanding.

I think too that we are all responsible for our faith and shouldn’t come to church expecting others to take us by the hand and lead us through or to anything.

That is why I enjoy things like this so much.

I have to think, research and put my understanding into words. That way, I know what I believe and why and that gives me confidence and peace.

Ah, but God is good:)
