Still not sure what your issue is with what I’ve said. Tongues is A gift, yes. It is not THE evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Do you disagree with that?

**Tongues is A gift, yes.**

I agree with that.

**It is not THE evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit.**

How did Peter KNOW that Cornelius and his household had received the Holy Ghost? They heard them speak in tongues, just as it happened the 120 disciples on Pentecost.

Is it when someone is happy after hearing the gospel? The Samaritans had great joy, but received the Spirit later.

How do YOU know when someone is initially filled with the Spirit?

If you will recall, at Pentecost, each person heard those speaking in their native tongue. There was no gibberish that needed an interpreter. If you don't recall that, go back and read it in Acts.

It's not up to us to know if someone is "initially" filled. Anyone can pretend tongues. Even satan can cause someone to "speak in tongues".

True evidence of the Spirit is an extended life of showing the FRUIT of the Spirit, with the gifts of the Spirit given to that individual as God determines are needed for the work God has for that person to do.

Tongues is self-edifying and can easily be faked. Don't rely on that for the truth about whether a person has been converted or not.

I agree!

Jesus said, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou HEAREST the SOUND thereof, but canst NOT tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is EVERY ONE that is born of the Spirit”. John 3:8

Here, I assume, you now speak of unknown tongues, which are biblical (1Cor. 13:1; 14:2). Are there people faking it? Absolutely! Just like there are people holding church positions in many organizations, that have been putting on a show of faithfulness, even having some ‘fruit of the Spirit’ (good works), when they have also been disobedient in abominable ways (see Romans chp. 1).

And furthermore, “..Satan himself is tranformed into an angel of light. therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be tranformed as the ministers of righteousness..”. 2Cor. 11:13,14
