Lawyer With 20 years Experience Suing Paedophile Priests in US Comes to UK [Jeffery Anderson]

Jeff Anderson joins new legal practice in UK dedicated to rooting out clerical sexual abuse

A leading US litigator who has spent more than 20 years suing US-based paedophile priests and the church officials who moved them from parish to parish is joining a new legal practice dedicated to rooting out clerical sexual abuse in the UK.

Jeff Anderson has filed more than 1,500 lawsuits against the Catholic church in the US and thousands more against individuals and organisations, including those belonging to other Christian denominations.

His Minnesota firm says it is "aggressively committed" to child protection through civil litigation and he believes there is significant scope to expand this activity in the UK.

Anderson, whose firm recently represented all 23 plaintiffs in a suit that led to a US diocese filing for bankruptcy protection, will be working with Ann Olivarius, a solicitor who is already based in London, to expose offenders and seek justice for victims.

In an interview with the Guardian, ahead of tomorrow's launch of the new practice, Anderson said there remained a clerical culture of secrecy in the UK.

"The protestations of regret from the Catholic church in England and Wales is something more than they have done in the past. The past was marked by silence. We applaud any child protection measures that are made but the church still operates in secrecy."

Anderson said he was "deeply concerned" and had "every reason to know" that the Catholic church was still "recycling offenders" – moving them from parish to parish – and that paedophile priests were not being turned over to law enforcement authorities.

"We want them to come clean and disclose the names of all offenders. I have been tracking what has been happening here and across the globe.

Apparently the legal profession in the UK is incapable of dealing with this issue.

Priest Sex Abuse Victims Turn Down Money, Want Full Disclosure
Archbishop Jerome Listecki Says Archdiocese Released Relevant Records
http://www.wisn.com/r/26178418/detail.html
MILWAUKEE — The victims of sex abuse in Milwaukee want the release of all the archdiocese’s records relating to sexual abuse by priests.

The archdiocese said it’s released all relevant records, but the plaintiffs said it’s not enough. On Friday, one of the archdiocese’s highest-ranking officials broke ranks to support the plaintiffs.

“It is an action that I’m personally appalled by. As a priest, as a Catholic, as a bishop that even any of this ever happened,” Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki said of the sexual abuse.

Listecki said the archdiocese can’t come to terms with a dozen sexual abuse victims who claim church officials shuffled pedophile priests from church to church and destroyed evidence to hide their actions.

Calling this Pedophilia and avoiding calling the priests homosexuals is avoiding the problem. It's homosexual molestation of children that is the problem. In a perverted way, the criminal homosexuals are destroying the church, much to their collective desire while averting blame on homosexuals.

Do you think it's the church and theology or the predatory homosexuals who used the church to get at children. You are happy with the destruction of the church? You are homophile and wish the homosexuals to be blameless? You think the lawyer is out to save children? I think he is attacking the church which politically is the weak target with wealth. He's scum.

Wow, you too? I had this same discussion with another FReeper the other day. Keep your head in the sand, the problem might just go away, or not...

Calling this Pedophilia and avoiding calling the priests homosexuals is avoiding the problem. It's homosexual molestation of children that is the problem.
[Faithful Departed author Philip] Lawler points out that while less than five percent of American priests have been accused of sexual abuse, some two-thirds of our bishops were apparently complicit in cover-ups. The real scandal isn't the sick excesses of a few dozen pedophiles, or even the hundreds of priests who had affairs with teenage boys -- the bulk of abuse cases. No, according to Lawler, it is the malfeasance of wealthy, powerful, and evidently worldly men who fill the thrones -- but not the shoes -- of the apostles. In case after case, we read in their correspondence, in the records of their soulless, bureaucratic responses to victims of psychic torture and spiritual betrayal, these bishops' prime concern was to save the infrastructure, the bricks and mortar and mortgages. Ironically, their lack of a supernatural concern for souls is precisely what cost them so much money in the end.
-- from the thread Kneeling Before the World

"The Dublin Archdiocese's preoccupations in dealing with cases of child sexual abuse, at least until the mid-1990s, were the maintenance of secrecy, the avoidance of scandal, the protection of the reputation of the church and the preservation of its assets," said the report. "All other considerations, including the welfare of children and justice for victims, were subordinated to these priorities. The archdiocese did not implement its own canon law rules and did its best to avoid any application of the law of the state"....
-- from the thread Pope calls Irish church leaders to Vatican to discuss abuse report

If the InsideCatholic.com blog can be believed, two-thirds of all American bishops were complicit in covering up the immoral and illegal actions of 4% or fewer Catholic clergymen. All we can say with certainty is that 96+% - 105,302 Catholic clergymen - were never accused, yet 95 percent of all Catholic dioceses in the United States were impacted negatively. The numbers are more damning for the bishops then they are for the priests.

I can only imagine what the results would have been today if the bishops had stood tall protecting the Catholic children and rid the Church of the queer priests. I almost think the Bishops were a planned part of the destruction of the Catholic Church.

Yeah, the victims are just out for money, it happened a long time ago, they should just forgive and forget.

There's our clue.

Dioceses are filing for bankruptcy, settlements are being made and the number of new cases is falling. Business is dwindling. The spigot is drying up.

If the business won't come to you.........then you just have to go to the business.

UK, here I come.

The church is wising up and doing more to screen out the homosexuals in its seminaries. This is not the case with government where homosexuals are building legal protections into society for themselves. So when they start diddling boys in schools in greater numbers victims will be stuck with small settlements as statutory limits protect government entities. With your thinking, you feel morally superior bankrupting the Church, letting the homos off Scot free, and subjecting future generations of boys to homo predations. And you say I'm burying my head in the sand? Don't blame me. I'm homophobic. It appears you are homopholic.
