“if we can agree on Jesus Christ and Him crucified “

But that is the rub, Jeff. Christians do NOT agree on
the Mormonic view of who Jesus Christ is. Christians
believe Jesus Christ has always existed as GOD - neither
created nor made, nor “birthed” by a Heavenly Mother God.
From there, the rest of the wheels fall off.

I am more than pleased to join hands to fight the good
cause as conservatives, but I’m not willing to pretend
we believe the same things or that they have moral equality
or that there is any truth in Mormonism, or to be silent
when mormons proselytize on FreeRepublic.

Jeff, that would be all well and good, except that mormons have a completely different definition of the Person, Nature and Work of Jesus than Christianity.

"crucified" fails as well Jeff. Mormonism rejects the cross as the vehicle upon which God provided the atonement for sin - mormons look to the garden.

Christians cannot agree with mormons that Jesus is a created being and brother to satan, nor can it agree with mormons that our atonement was obtained in the garden.
