Do the Mormon Gods Belong to Multiple Godheads?
Mormon Coffee (Mormonism Research Ministry) ^ | April 29, 2010 | Aaron Shafovaloff

Posted on 12/28/2010 2:27:06 PM PST by Colofornian

If God the Father has a Father, and if the concept of “Godhead” isn’t infinitely expandable to include all Gods, then our Father belongs to two Godheads, one of which Jesus is not a part of. If God the Father does have a Father, and if the Godhead is infinitely inclusive of all exalted Gods, then the Godhead that is “one” is potentially comprised of an infinite number of Gods.

Also, if Jesus becomes a Heavenly Father with his own “Firstborn Son”, and if the concept of “Godhead” isn’t infinitely inclusive of all Gods, then Jesus will belong to a Godhead that our Father doesn’t belong to.

If the concept of “Godhead” isn’t infinitely inclusive of all Gods, just how many Godheads can a God in the Mormon universe belong to?

Can you imagine Jesus saying to the Father, “I’ll be hanging out with my other Godheads this weekend”?

Thanks.

These posts led me to salvation after 35 faithful years as a mormon.

Finally one day I had had enough and went to the Stake Library to Prove GreyyFox39 worng.

Boy did God have a surprise for me.

I'm not the only one, I believe at least 3 now have been pried free of the cult due to these threads at FR.

You might be right, but I'll bet the Jewish don't conceal those verses from those they recruit, or call folks that bring them up haters.

They also do not teach that God is a reincarnated Adam, then cover that teaching up later. Or that Christ was a polygamous sinner who was not born of a virgin.

Folks deserve the WHOLE story before giving what the Mormon church is so quick to take.

I invite you to seek the truth

I have. And I found it in the Bible, and nowhere else. The Bible tells us not to add to or take away from God's word. And I am not going to take the teachings of any relatively recent man-made religion over the Bible. On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

Charles Wesley’s old hymn contains the words “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see”. On the Tabernacle Choir’s excellent Christmas album, however, it says “Veiled in flesh our Lord we see”.

Excellent catch!

Mormons love to hide behind a pretense of being "one-God" adherents; as the word "Godhead" becomes their pseudo-trinitarian word substitute.

So to the Mormon, "godhead" is ONLY a plural reference -- and could never reference Jesus alone.

So Jesus as the "lone" "godhead" just doesn't do.

So once again, Mormon leaders take out their tools of redefinition and twist and distort to their own liking.

The Joseph Smith translation of Genesis 1:26 is DIFFERENT THAN EVEN HIS OWN BOOK OF ABRAHAM ! It's verse 29 in the JST because he added three versus into Genesis 1 before verse 26.

Joseph Smith Translation of Bible, not used by Mormons today because Brigham Young claimed it fraudulent,
Genesis 1: 29
And I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them.

These anti-Mormon posts, now showing up at FR in abundance, are an obvious preemptive political strike at Romney. There are plenty of issues Romney needs to answer, but attacking his religion, even a conservative-centric and pro-USA religion like Mormonism, is not one of them.

So just admit your aim is to smear Romney through his religious beliefs.

Mind-reading, now, eh?

Tell you what: I'll consider answering a question if it's in question form -- and not assumed mind-reading as to either my motivations or who I'd like to read this.

(You've presumed it's merely Joe & Jane Voter out there)

I’m glad you brought up Romney.

Here is where it matters on FR:

(1) Romney has been banned from FR, by none other than Jim Robinson.

(2) Please name for me a single nationally known Mormon politician who is a conservative (RINOs don’t count.)

(3) Now tell me why conservative Republican mormons are so starry-eyed about Romney.

Please tell me.

It should be added that there are many, many Mormons who are conservatives. (What happens when they hit the national political spotlight is anyone’s guess.)

You might have noticed there’s a gang of anti-Mormon’s posting propaganda here constantly.

C'mon, PD. We're now a "gang"??? Is that a "gang" replete with "gang" signs?

Tell ya what, PD...
If we ever decide to go "gangster" in the FREEPER 'hood...
...May we borrow those handshake signs you Mormons use to discern one spirit from another when you die?...
[ALL: just Google "Doctrine & Covenants 129:4-7" where Joseph Smith said dead spirits could discern other spirits by way of a "handshake" -- as if pre-resurrected spirits are going to be able to do that!!!]

Thesis: The Nicene Creed and Athenasian Creed Godhead is essentially a God with a multiple personality disorder, and cannot be defined by the New Testament.

Nicene Creed Challenge #42 (answer if you can) ... If you believe that the Nicene Creed which was adopted by the Officials at the Council of Nicea 325AD through inspiration from God ....

....then it makes sense that you should also believe that Church officials should be Celibate ... since that requirement was also passed by the same Officials at the Council of Nicea in 325AD.

So what was it ... the inspired Nicean Officials in 325 got it right on the Creed but wrong on the Celibacy ...Right on both or wrong on both???

If they got it right on the Creed ... doesn’t it make sense that they also got it right on Celibacy? Is your pastor Celibate? If not ... then according to logic ... aren’t you flirting with Heresy?

Just a few thoughts ..... (Before you try to remove the sliver in my eye .... maybe you should remove the beam in your own!)

Oh, please, I have to ask you a question before you'll even consider answering?

Even Ms. Landers was never that presumptuous. Anyway, I already know how you'll answer.

Thanks for improving my mind-reading abilities, at least today.

That's what I thought.

Why bother w/needless conversations with people who have that all-in-one Magic-8 ball-Joseph-Smith-special-urim-and-thummim device?

I mean actual conversations with such people must be so...so archaic to them!

(1) Romney has been banned from FR,
By that, you mean, editorials penned by Romney in the WSJ, for instance.

(2) Please name for me a single nationally known Mormon politician who is a conservative (RINOs don’t count.)
You already know the answer.

(3) Now tell me why conservative Republican mormons are so starry-eyed about Romney.

You'll have to ask a starry-eyed Mormon. Any self-proclaimed pro-Romney, Republican Mormon would get an immediate zot. Too bad, I'd like to hear their side of the story.

How did you miss the almost 4 years of that intense debate here if you have been a member since 1999?

The zotting is recent because of that 4 years of vicious, Romney spamming. FR was flooded with Mormons pushing Romney, and many of them still have accounts, they merely quit posting after Romney dropped out in January, 2008, or after Palin was chosen for veep.
