Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Proverbs
Chapter 9

The Way of Wisdom

1. Wisdom has built her house,
She has hewn out her seven pillars;
2. She has slaughtered her meat,
She has mixed her wine,
She has also furnished her table.
3. She has sent out her maidens,
She cries out from the highest places of the city,
4. “ Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
5. “ Come, eat of my bread
And drink of the wine I have mixed.
6. Forsake foolishness and live,
And go in the way of understanding.
7. “ He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself,
And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself.
8. Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you;
Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
9. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10. “ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11. For by me your days will be multiplied,
And years of life will be added to you.
12. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself,
And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.”

The Way of Folly

13. A foolish woman is clamorous;
She is simple, and knows nothing.
14. For she sits at the door of her house,
On a seat by the highest places of the city,
15. To call to those who pass by,
Who go straight on their way:
16. “ Whoever is simple, let him turn in here”;
And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
17. “ Stolen water is sweet,
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18. But he does not know that the dead are there,
That her guests are in the depths of hell.

Holy and Sanctified is Your Most Wonderful Name.
We Come Into Your Presence With Praise and Singing,
For You Alone Are Worthy of Worship!
Wonderful,
Counselor,
Almighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace!

Thank You, Dear Father,
For This Precious Book of Your Wisdom!
Thank You For The practical lessons on Daily Life,
That leap out of the Pages to Our Hearts.
Oh How Lovely it is to Praise You, LORD!
How Pleasant it is to Stand in Your House and Worship You,
To Linger In Your Courts,
To Contemplate and Meditate on Your Word!
You Are So Good,
And it is so LOVELY to Study Your Precepts,
It is Healing to Our Hearts and Medicine to Our Souls.
We Continue To Lift Up Prayers For Your Special Treasure, Israel,
Because You have seen fit to Share Your Heart With us in Your Holy Word,
And This is Your Command!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will, Your Word, and Your Promise.
We Pray For The leaders of Israel,
and of Our own Beloved USA,
That they will be led by Your Holy Spirit,
And will make godly and wise decisions for the people.

Keep us From Temptation, Oh LORD.
There are so many idols that can distract us,
Not only of silver and gold,
But of flesh and blood,
Philosophies and Theories,
Electronic Vanities that take our Eyes off You,
Politics and Sports,
Entertainment and Careers.
Even good and decent things can be idols if they distract us from You.
lead Us Not Into temptation,
But Deliver Us From Evil.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Seven Pillars of Wisdom.
They have been likened to the list in Isaiah:
Understanding,
Counsel,
Wisdom,
Knowledge,
Righteousness,
Power,
And Most Important: Fear Of The LORD.
Proverbs tells us that The Fear of the LORD is the BEGINNING of Wisdom!
The other Six Pillars Follow.

This reference is very Famous. Lawrence of Arabia's book about his adventures was titled "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom", and there is a Mountain in Jordan with this same name. But None of the Pillars will stand up without "Fear of The LORD."
This Chapter is in the style of Ancient Hebrew Poetry, which uses Contrast for Emphasis.
The Contrast is between Wisdom and Folly, and a Sharp Contrast it most certainly is!

Psalm 94

God the Avenger of the Righteous

1 O Lord, you God of vengeance,
you God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O judge of the earth;
give to the proud what they deserve!
3 O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
how long shall the wicked exult?

4 They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers boast.
5 They crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6 They kill the widow and the stranger,
they murder the orphan,
7 and they say, ‘The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.’

8 Understand, O dullest of the people;
fools, when will you be wise?

17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, ‘My foot is slipping’,
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who contrive mischief by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will repay them for their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Heavenly Father may you continue to bring an overwhelming, crushing defeat on the forces of darkness in our nation, may you smash every crooked deed they try to hold onto power and may this be so convincing that everyone knows that your hand is in this. Then we may bring the light of your Gospel to the nations as you did this time in history:

Darth, thank you, for the daily posting of Psalm 94.

It is good to read it every day. We tend to read and move on ... because we have read it many times, yet, if we ponder the words we grow in understanding more and more. No other way to do it layer upon layer our knowledge increases to ever deeper levels. Some may be graced with the Holy Spirit giving Divine knowledge to the few that are especially selected to wisdom and insight. First we must believe that we will receive what it is we pray for God to grant.

The Broken Earthenware Jug

19Thus said the Lord: Go and buy a potter’s earthenware jug.
