Pointing out errors is not making it personal, narses...you, in your “response in kind” was to basically instruct me to go to school because of my lack of intelligence.

Now it’s poor widdle feelings. Again, insulting. My hide’s thick; it has to be in these threads.

As for whining, I’ve not asked for anything to be removed or closed...

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

“...you, in your “response in kind” was to basically instruct me to go to school because of my lack of intelligence.”

Nope, you misread what I posted.

Your talking about me - whining about me - without the courtesy of a ping - speaks volumes. As is your inability to accept a mirror image of your own posts without claiming injury.

2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Slowly Dean - who was the women referred to in the above passage from Luke? Mary. Who was the "son"? Our Lord Jesus Christ. His Title? King of Kings. Hers? The Mother of the King of Kings. Unless you deny the Trinity that is?

Mary is not the mother of the Trinity, nor is she the mother of God the Father or God the Holy Spirit. She is, however, the mother of Jesus, who is God the Son, made man.
The eternal Son of God took on human nature at the moment He took flesh in her womb. Jesus is one Divine Person, with two natures. At the moment of the Incarnation, Mary became His Mother.

Scripture has many references to Mary as the mother of Jesus.
Jesus is God as much as the Father and Holy Spirit are. They are three Persons in one God. All Christian churches believe that.

narses:

“2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Slowly Dean - who was the women referred to in the above passage from Luke? Mary. Who was the “son”? Our Lord Jesus Christ. His Title? King of Kings. Hers? The Mother of the King of Kings. Unless you deny the Trinity that is?”

Now, narses — you take it slowly and re-read: where in that verse is Mary called Mother of God? It DOES say that Jesus was her FIRSTBORN son (maybe other children?? Kinda monkeywrenches some more of the RCC’s falsehoods, eh?). Jesus is God Incarnate, yes — but Mary can’t be the mother of God because God has no beginning; she IS the mother of Jesus. Fallen, sinful Mary; used by God the Father to bear God the Son. I have no problem with the Trinity.

So, once again: where in Scripture is Mary referred to as the Mother of God?

Dean, er, Neal, er Hoss ( :D)

"Translation please."

Are you asking because you, although admittedly raised a Catholic, really do not know or are you just trying to stir up trouble...let us pray. For many of us it is more familiar than the "adios" referenced by the mod.

What I’ve been trying to say.

Nothing more, nothing less.

The words “Trinity” and “Incarnation” are also nowhere to be found in Scripture, but does that make them any less true?

"Mother of God” is a truth that flows naturally and logically from an understanding of Who Jesus is. When we apply the term to Mary, it's actually all about Christ. It points us unmistakably towards His Divinity, and slams the door shut on the several heresies about Him that were raging at the time.

Read up on the Council of Ephesus and “Theotokos” to get a beautiful explanation of these holy truths about the Lord Jesus.

“Those who believe Mary was the mother only of Jesus the man and should not be called ‘Mother of God.’”

“And [we believe] in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father …”

Did Mary have anything to do with Jesus “being of one substance with the Father”?

True — but there IS more than enough scriptural evidence to support those terms.

BIG difference.

Fine...then it's appropriate to call her the Mother of God, since Jesus is God.

Remember, the Christian belief (not just Catholic!) is that Jesus is one Divine Person, and His two natures are united in this one Person. Mary became the mother of that Person at the moment of the Incarnation. She is not merely the mother of His human nature, or even worse, the mother of merely His body. She is His mother, and since He is God, she is the Mother of God.

2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

That you cannot see is not me problem.

You admit, “...she IS the mother of Jesus.”

Then you fall apart.

You claim, “I have no problem with the Trinity.” But your words belie that claim.

2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

We don’t tell Roman Catholics what they believe. They do a great job of articulating the errors of Rome all by themselves.

When Roman Catholics stop believing in “another Christ” and a “co-redemptrix” and a works-based salvation, be sure to let us know.
