I believe it is the word of God that increases one's faith and that is it alone. The sacraments are a outward demonstration of our faith.

Testimony after testimony people will say, "This particular scripture talked to me and convicted me..."

This is fantastic. We live in such a scientific age that people can't believe just reading Scripture can lead to a transformation in someone's life. The power of the Holy Spirit is to easily dismissed.

BTW, I would agree that the Westminster Confession is the best attempt to establish a systematic theology based on Scripture. It doesn't mean it's perfect, but what a great starting point.

I thought about posting the Baptist Confession of Faith, but there is a certain elegance in the Westminster that I like. I have some issues with certain passages, especially over church issues where the scripture references become rather thin. However, it is a solid understanding of the scripture.
