Hey sandy...

Do you mind?

SD: It’s an industry whose existence and success depends on spreading rumors, half-truths, and outright lies about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

ejonsie: PUT UP OR SHUT UP SANDY!

That is the only industry I am interested in, the ending of the unsubstantiated allegations and hyperbole from Mormon Apologist against those representing the truth.

Let's take Three examples:

Mark Hoffman

A member who became disaffected with the church, then decided to start making forgeries. A talented forger, who lived an increasingly lavish lifestyle, Mark fooled not only the church, but the Smithsonian, and many experts as well. Many of his forgeries continue to plague the church to this day, in spite of their known status as forgeries, and a full accounting of all his forgeries has never been made.

Ed Decker, was released as a Bishop, expected to be called as a Stake President. When it didn't happen, he was upset, apparently, he thought he'd "earned it". and that was what precipitated his departure from the church. He has since left his job, and is living off of proceeds from his books, movies that critique the LDS Church, most notable of his movies is "The God Makers.

MRM (Mormon Research Ministry) An anti Mormon site much beloved here by anti's is still using excerpts form a forged letter by Lucy Mack Smith in some of their arguments about the Book of Mormon. Do they know they are quoting from a forgery? Maybe they do, maybe they don't, does it really matter? They are still spreading misinformation.

ejonsie, you need more?

Perhaps you can explain who was financing this lavish lifestyle by buying up said forgeries, and why?

You know ejonesie - some times you feel like a nut, and others you are one. MRM is not citing 23 January 1829 letter, but Lucy's own biography of smith. History of Joseph Smith by His Mother is cited authoratatively by lds.org on many subjects. Please du, accuracy.

"Mark fooled not only the church..."

No, he fooled a mormon prophet and general authorities as well as their experts.

So much for that "discernment" and ability to receive "revelation from god" we are constantly told the mormon prophets are supposed to have.
