Just got a telephone call from a good friend. Her Yellow Labrador Retriever, Woody, is at the vet with a blockage. They are trying to shift it without surgery, but if things haven't moved by tomorrow morning they will have to go in.
Woody is a big ol' boy and absolutely the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He is also a great hunting retriever and my friend's best pal. And he is the father of my little yellow dog Katy.
Please everybody pray that we have a good outcome here -- that they can move the blockage without surgery . . . failing that, that the surgery be uneventful and Woody have no infection or other complications.
I hope Woody is doing better today, can we have an update?
We miss our Labs every day.
We understand...and sent prayer.
Got up thinking of Woody this morning.
Praying he is doing better!!
Prayers up for Woody!
This is what killed my first lab - plastic bag that never showed up on xray - so I definitely have Woody on my mind this morning. Hope they caught it in time. Poor Woody & his family!
Lovable lil buggers but boy are they slaves to their appetites!
Thanks everybody for your prayers!
It's a Lab, natch. They love to hold things in their mouths. It could even be a Yellow Lab (if he's been frolicking in the mud with his torch).
Dogs will eat the darndest things. Several years after my sister had given me an young Australian Shepherd mix, she fessed up to an amazing story. She found the mangled frame of sunglasses that had been on the coffee table. The glass lenses were nowhere to be found. Her vet discounted the idea that a dog would crunch down on glass and eat the shards, but he advised feeding the dog lots of bread, just in case. For days, my sister washed all the droppings through a strainer to find evidence and discovered long slender shards of glass that looked like scimitars. We can’t imagine how those passed through. The dog lived a full normal life to 14, but always had a touchy stomach - hardly any wonder.
Yeah!
Just got off the phone with my friend . . . Woody came home from the vet after unspeakable things were done to him with mineral oil . . . and he passed the obstruction! He is still uncomfortable and sore, and has lots of antibiotics to take . . . but he did not need surgery!
My friend attributes it to the power of prayer, and so do I!
Thank you all for praying for Woody, it worked!
Katy is happy that her daddy is better.
Thank you ALL!!!!!!!!
P.S. . . . her surgery went fine too. :-D
Thank you for posting. That is very good news and makes for a much happier Thanksgiving!!
YYEEAAAH! I am so happy for Woody! Thanks so much for the update!
Thank you for posting the update. Prayer does work! I’m glad to know Woody and his family will have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have a black lab rescue and don’t know what I would do without him.
attaboy, Woody, attaboy ...
Good news!
Thanks so much for the good news, of answered prayer. Thank you, Lord, for this dear creature’s speedy recovery, in Christ’s Name.
Way to GO, Woody! :)
Deo gratias!
Thank God for mineral oil and good vets. Hopefully doggie didn’t immediately try to eat the obstruction again... :)
