Obama thought he was the right person to represent us to the muslim world, based on his history of having lived in the muslim world, having a great sympathy and understanding for that world.
The reality is quite the opposite. His sympathy and understanding of that world could have stood us in good stead if he actually understood this world as well. But he doesn’t. His understanding of western culture is infected and distorted by his marxism. He doesn’t understand us at all; he doesn’t have any grasp of what it is about us that makes us what we are.
So while he does have the ability to reach out with sincere affection toward the muslim world on his own behalf he is not able to represent us to them; he can’t explain us to them, and he lacks the ability to persuade them to see us as we wish to be seen, because he himself does not see us that way. He can’t explain why we are a force for good historically because he doesn’t believe we are. He can’t explain why liberty is an ultimate good because he doesn’t believe it is. He can’t explain how liberty and prosperity are linked because he doesn’t believe they are.
So it turns out that the guy who thought he was the best able to be our bridge to the muslim world is in fact incapable of it. The one thing he ought to be able to do he can’t. It isn’t in him.
