When we went to a mosque in Egypt on a tour, the women were required to wear a scarf or hat. I think this is status quo for all tours. Tour groups always ensure that women are covered. It is the same with men in Catholic Churches to take off their hat.

Any man should remove his hat indoors. That’s common courtesy.

Yes, we toured the mosque in Jerusalem. I wanted to spray Holy Water on the black rock of the blood cult. I had to have long sleeves, even, and a scarf. Husband had to be covered, too, but no head covering.
