The Annual Social Justice collection of the US Bishops is approaching again and as usual - it is fraught with problems

If you are looking for a few good people to support, the following list may be of interest (from the above site):
Maggie's Place (AZ, ID, OH)
A Simple House (DC, MO)
Paul Stefan Home of Our Lady of Guadalupe (VA)
Alexandra's House (MO)
Franciscan Daughters of Mary (KY)
Franciscan Friars of the Renewal (US)
Covenant House (US)
Totus Tuus (US)
The Knights of Columbus and many local chapters of St. Vincent de Paul are doing excellent work, so look them up!
Mary Mother of God Mission Society (Russia)
Catholic Medical Mission Board has been removed for the time being because, despite evidence of clearly wonderful work going on in preventing HIV/AIDS and other diseases in the developing world, we have been unable to ascertain for certain their position on supporting organizations that do not support Church teaching on life and social justice issues. If you know of any evidence to the contrary, please contact us via the link above.
I looked at the CCHD grantees in our diocese from last year and chose one I would support personally. I will send them a donation, and I’ll send a note to the Bishop saying that I agree this is a useful organization, but I can’t contribute through the national campaign.
Ping.
I don’t trust Michael Voris.
He does great research but will not hear any counter information. He is very bullheaded and in some ways doesn’t help his cause.
This subject needs to be handled by someone other than him.
This subject is, in fact, being handled by more than Michael Voris.
>>Michael Voris is not the head of the ReformCCHDnow coalition<<
Um, I never said that.
>>How do you know that he will not hear any counter information?<<
I’m in Detroit. I have had YouTube conversations with him which were swept when he did not like the reasoning of my argument, I called to his radio show on 1400, Sunday afternoons and my newly converted husband spoke to him as well. He will NOT state simply that an opinion or fact is something that he did not know and needed to research, but rather told both of us that we were simply wrong. When you have been arguing in the FR Religion forum long enough, you know little things like 33,000 Protestant denominations is wrong, yet this was stated on his radio show, by his ex-Protestant co-host. When my husband called to give the facts, he was blown off.
>>This subject is, in fact, being handled by more than Michael Voris.<<
Fantastic! It needs to be. Voris is not taken seriously by many Catholics, which to me is a pity because when he started he was the pride of orthodox Catholics all over the area.
And thanks for signing up today to respond to little old me.
Welcome to FR. Hope you stay and learn somethings.
