Since Joseph was the only other person in the stable during the birth nobody else objectively would be an eyewitness that she indeed gave birth yet remained a virgin Where does it say that Joseph was in the stable? Who would have checked her physically to see if she is still a virgin and why?
Who's to say they didn't just adopt him from someone else?
People would have seen her with her belly sticking out as she was getting closer to delivery. If she was pregnant yesterday and tomorrow her belly is flat and she is holding a newborn baby in her arms, chances are she delivered it.
