Yes, I suppose that is so. It could have been an English mind, but Wyclif died so soon that only his bones could be burnt at the stake. It could have been a Slavic mind, but Jan Hus was burnt at the stake (after being promised safe passage by papal authority). So, yes, I guess it ended up being German.
It is a fine point you make, fine. Balanced, ethnically sensitive, enlightened.
And “logical German mind” would be offset by ... what? I would fill in the blank, but I leave it to the more balanced, sensitive, and enlightened to do so.
To take a false premise and build a perfectly logical house of cards upon it takes a specific German genuis, I think. The same talents were put to a better use in modern philosophy and natural sciences later.
There were minor sects everywhere and at all times, but none would have amounted to a hill of beans were it not for German appetite for sophistry and Henry VIII’s oversize libido.
