In Christ Alone lyrics
Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ
yak yak yak... lets see the evidence of murders and torture.
It was these very same men.. mostly Calvinists , with Quakers and deists that wrote the constitution.. how is it they all managed not to be at the same place at the same time??
Of course it's not enough. IIRC there were 19 innocents executed. That is a matter of history, is sad and sickening, but is one single community. You have condemned all the Colonies. Document it and while you're at it, document the witches executed as a result of the various Inquisitions.
lol, lol, lol
This is so predictable.. I knew that this was going to be the marker used.. 19 people killed.. thats it mark.. you insinuated that ALL the protestant colonies tortured and killed those of other faiths (not witches)
Show us where there were Baptists or Methodists or Anabaptists or any religious torture and murder in the protestant colonies and I will present you with the work of Rome in England and Scotland under dear Mary, and the inquisition in Europe.... people in glass houses need to keep their hands in their pockets
Quick catch ....
We need to make up our mind here NL...Were the religious killing Protestant state ( colonies) sponsored like the RC killings in Europe ? Prove it ...
Ohhh BTW this uneducated harpy woman would like to point out the klan did not exist at the time of the formation of the country or faith based colonies ...that came AFTER THE CIVIL WAR. as did the the formation of the mormon church.
Lets not mix up our history here NL...we are talking foundation of America..
I'm not mixing up any history and I have nothing to prove. Mark is perfectly capable of defending his own statements.
My point is that Protestant sectarian violence is deeply ingrained in the American culture and lasted well beyond the end of colonial and state religion. It was not a creation of the 19th century.
Prove it ...
What is your standard of proof? There is ample proof for those who are interested in researching it, but it can't be condensed into a quip or single sentence response. It exists in many books and academic papers, government and court records and in the press of the time. It isn't available in cut and paste form from the usual anti-Catholic websites. Denial runs deep (and I'm not talking about that river in Egypt)and I doubt that were video taped evidence available it would be sufficient proof for those who have already concluded in the absence if evidence.
You posted this comment in post 567.
But killing and torture of those who did not subscribe to the particular Protestant brand of each colony were, until the federal government quelled it. Massachusetts was a particularly barbaric colony, although several others vied for its level of barbarism. Where did you guys get your education? Have you no idea of what was actually done in history or do you have the usual American glaze eyed deer in the headlights stare when it comes to actual reality?
To which I replied in post 573:So go ahead,.... Provide us with the links to educate us of American Protestantisms dark past and all the atrocities you mentioned.
Old Reggie and I have asked you to provide the links to demonstrate the killing and torture that went on in the colonies with Massachusetts being particularly barbaric until the federal government put a stop to it.
As of yet you have not provided it. You sent me to find out myself. You provided links that show a overview of the religious makeup of the colonies. But as of yet, nothing demonstrating the killing and barbarism that you claim happened until the federal government stepped in to stop it.
SO where did you get YOUR education? You already said that it was not a Catholic school. What other options are there? A public school that you have already dissed? Or were you homeschooled?
If your age is anywhere above 30-ish, homeschool is pretty much out. That leaves Catholic, private/Christian, or public.
You didn't go to a public school, did you?
The Mormons did their share of killing to be sure. Why bring them into it?
Where's the data to back that up?
Catholic sectarian violence is deeply ingrained in the European culture and lasted for hundreds of years.
Can you say *IRA*?
The Inquisition dwarfs anything done by Protestantism by orders of magnitude, no matter how much you try to exaggerate Protestant evils.
It was another example or "proof" of sectarian violence in America.
Then you shouldn't have any problem providing some links to them instead of sending others off to do your work for you. You made the assertion. Provide evidence to back it up.
So, why do you seem so intent on adding to it? WHy keep stirring the pot?
All your posts elaborating in injustices allegedly perpetrated against others by Protestants are doing nothing more than fanning the flames of sectarianism.
Instead of behaving in the Christlike manner that the Beatitudes you like to refer to so much, you keep picking at that sore like a kid picking off a scab.
Blessed are the peacemakers.
How is your constant railing against perceived injustices doing anything to correct the situation?
Do you WANT to keep sectarianism alive and well? It sure seems that way from the way you keep, dare I say it, harping on it.
I've never known anyone who can hold a grudge like an aggrieved Catholic.
Can you say Oliver Cromwell? Can you say Ascendancy Rule? Can you say Penal Laws? Can you say Potato Famine? Can you say Black and Tan? Can you say Democratic Unionist Party (DUP)?
Its not my work. If you doubt you owe it to yourself to research it.
A rule of thumb that I use is that I believe 0% of anything I read on these forums, but make some notes and do my own research. That is why I so often have so much contempt for the authoritarian pronouncements made by the Harpy Coven and their lackeys.
I used to fall into that trap and brought significant research work product to these threads and it was never accepted if it contradicted the anti-Catholic bias.
