In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

“If they are going to spend eternity in heavenly bliss then there is no possibility of sin. Man will no longer be able to sin.”

I guess the answer or the question is, “What is man’s highest good?”

I suppose that if ones happiness involves the ability to sin, to “act not in accord with reason informed by the Divine law”, (St. Thomas, “De malo”, 7:3), then heaven in the presence of “the One who alone is essentially and perfectly good “would probably be hell and one would not want to be there with Him. The ability to sin carries with it the tension, the anxiety of offense; but there will be none of that in heaven.

Back to Augustine, “Man’s original capacities included both the power not to sin and the power to sin ( posse non peccare et posse peccare ). In Adam’s original sin, man lost the posse non peccare (the power not to sin) and retained the posse peccare (the power to sin)—which he continues to exercise. In the fulfillment of grace, man will have the posse peccare taken away and receive the highest of all, the power not to be able to sin, non posse peccare . On Correction and Grace XXXIII.

No, wrong question .. what did Jesus do about it? He died on the cross to appease the wrath of God..
Let's have the Gospel verse to support this statement.

"He that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

“Whom God hath set forth to be a PROPITIATION through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God” (Romans 3:25)

"Propitiation" is from the Greek word "hilaskomai, "to appease" ( Vine's Expository Dictionary, p. 223).

"And he [Christ] is the propitiation for our sins…" (I John 2:2).

As jesus prayed in the garden, that "this cup be taken from Him.. that cup that he feared was not so much the cross, but the cup of the wrath of God, that He was going to take for us

Those that choose to deny Christ's propitiation for them, and choose instead to make it on their works may hear this

Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night.....

to be the Mediator between God and man, the Prophet, Priest, and King, the Head and Savior of his church, the Heir of all things, and Judge of the world: unto whom he did from all eternity give a people, to be his seed, and to be by him in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified.
No, because the passage from the WCF is Arian heresy.

Please point to the heretical statement

to be the Mediator between God and man,

Is Jesus not the mediator between God and man?

the Prophet, Priest, and King,

Was not jesus prophet , King and Priest?

the Head and Savior of his church,

Is not Jesus the head of the church?

the Heir of all things,

Has not the Father put all things in His hand?

and Judge of the world:

Is not jesus the judge of the world?

unto whom he did from all eternity give a people, to be his seed,

Is not the church the seed of Christ?

and to be by him in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified.

Is not all salvation a work of Christ?

Show us what is heretical here mark..

Maybe all of that applies to Mary?

You are so right, memorization has fallen out of favor today.. but it set in the heart those things that are necessary to remember ..

I suppose the Biblical and Patristic answer is really more simple than the Catechism one. God made us to be in His image and also, I think more importantly, in His Likeness.

Indeed we were made in His image, but again the question is why did He make us at all ?

God planted the tree and the serpent.

God planted the tree and created an angel, Lucifer - ALL GOOD

The angel fell through pride and thus satan/demonic.

If God is God then he did it with the divine foreknowledge of what is about to happen. Man failed, by design..

Man had a choice and failed on his own - go back to where he was given dominion and how he chose to do what 'he' wanted with that authority.

If God wanted a sinless world we would have a sinless world.

The only way that would happen if he made us like robots. LOVE doesn't control.

"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, The Savior, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". How can you say God is in control when many many will perish and He wants that no man perish? Again, LOVE doesn't control. The fact that He is ALL KNOWING doesn't stop man from making wrong choices. It happens every day - nothing new under the sun.

Designing a world that would fail, then wanting to destroy it, then changing his mind, then killing himself to fix it just doesn't look like an excellent plan, or that he is in charge.

GOD didn't design the world to fail. Are you still here, is there still air, trees, fowl, etc.? Man brought sin into the world willfully - Adam/Eve handed over their/man's authority of dominion by submitting to evil.

Because of LOVE, Jesus came as 'man' to bring back what 'man' gave away by the authority given to them. It only could be reclaimed by 'man' since it was 'man' that had dominion here. God doesn't go against His Word that He gave dominion to 'man'. Don't assign to God what man does. You can't seem to tell the difference and that comes from NOT KNOWING GOD.

God is Good, God is Love - man is not. Man is sinful and in need of a Savior but many live in 'pride' (Lucifer's downfall) by thinking they have a better way. Their outcome will be the same as his. There is only ONE Way.

What you seem to want is someone controlling you so you don't have to make a choice and still be safe. A controlling spirit is demonic and has it's roots in witchcraft - it's a form of manipulation which satan used from the beginning. Man made teachings/doctrines follow that mindset of control. There is nothing new under the sun.

God offered us salvation - “For by grace you have been saved through FAITH, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” One accepts or rejects the GIFT. The choice is theirs. Adam/Eve were given a GIFT, also, and they traded it for deception. Again, there is nothing new under the sun.

rn = “”So one more time..why did God create man?””
SF= Out of love for love and for us to serve and love God back
From the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church
67. For what purpose did God create man and woman?
God has created everything for them; but he has created them to know, serve and love God, to offer all of creation in this world in thanksgiving back to him and to be raised up to life with him in heaven. Only in the mystery of the incarnate Word does the mystery of the human person come into true light. Man and woman are predestined to reproduce the image of the Son of God made Man, who is the perfect “image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15).

One of the problems with men is they need to be a part of every answer.. There is actually a simple GOD CENTERED answer to that question .

Isaiah 43: 6 I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring wmy sons from afar and wmy daughters from the end of the earth, 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Isaiah 40:4 – 5 Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isa 62:3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

Eph 2:6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: Eph 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

1 Cor 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

2Cr 4:15 For all things [are] for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

Be thou exalted , O God above the heavens: [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth

All things are created for the glory of God. He is glorified in His love and mercy and in His judgement and damnation.. He is God and sovereign over His creation..

John 13:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.

Colossians 1:16-20 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” -

Creation is all about God, and His glory.. He created men out of love, but the 1st cause of creation is Gods glory

I ask questions. You find that threatening? You have no obligation to read or reply to my posts.

I don't find anything you post threatening. Pathetic, but not threatening.

I am secure in my faith since God wants us to be and He made promises we can claim.

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

However, that does not change how your posts come across and that is that they are neither constructive nor encouraging for building others up in the faith.

I saw a lot of that kind of thinking on the creation/evolution threads from the most vehement God and Christ hating atheists. Lots of people think they can do a better job than God did and condemn Him because of that. So they sit in judgment of God and condemn His works and how He does things, as if they’re better , smarter, or more righteous than God is.

The problem is, the only way to deal with their sinfulness is to have it forgiven. The way I see it is that they charge God with evil in the apparent hope that they can somehow hold God hostage to not charginge them with evil while they continue to live in it.

It appears that there is no end of people who would charge God with evil or make Him to be evil.

Are you saying the fall was a surprise to God?

NO, never said or implied it. Nothing ever can be a surprise to ALL KNOWING God. His Knowing doesn't prevent man from sinning. If it did, there would be no reason for Jesus, The Savior. We would live forever in unity on this earth forever.

Are you saying that God did not want Adam to fall, that His desire was for a sinless world?

Yes, that is why I am saying. He did not want Adam or any man to fall. Adam/Eve were created without sin for there was no sin in the world when He created it. Man brought sin into the world.

One more time..why did jesus come again?

Ultimately JESUS came to seek and to save that which is lost through sin. He came because His Father so loved the world..."For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Kosta's posts and questions have made my faith even stronger. Every time one of you un-Christian Bahble Cult folks is unable to answer his questions, you go into fire breathing personal attack mode. It's like clockwork. You never fail me.

Kosta's posts continuously shoot holes in the flimsy arguments and shallow self-centered theology of the Bahble Cultists and make me glad I'm a Christian and not a follower of the evil hate filled god that Protestants worship.

“”Creation is all about God, and His glory.. He created men out of love, but the 1st cause of creation is Gods glory””

We agree on this,RN

From the NEW CATHOLIC CATECHISM

ARTICLE NO. 293

Scripture and Tradition never cease to teach and celebrate this fundamental truth: “The world was made for the glory of God.” St. Bonaventure explains that God created all things “not to increase His glory, but to show it forth and to communicate it,” for God has no other reason for creating than His love and goodness: St. Thomas expresses it thusly. “Creatures came into existence when the key of love opened His hand.” The First Vatican Council explains:

This one, true God, of his own goodness and “almighty power,” not for increasing his own beatitude, nor for attaining his perfection, but in order to manifest this perfection through the benefits which he bestows on creatures, with absolute freedom of counsel “and from the beginning of time, made out of nothing both orders of creatures, the spiritual and the corporeal…”

ARTICLE NO. 294

The glory of God consists in the realization of this manifestation and communication of His goodness, for which the world was created. God made us “to be His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace,”(Eph. 1:5-6) for as St Irenaeus states; “the glory of God is man fully alive; moreover man’s life is the vision of god: if God’s revelation through creation has already obtained life for all the beings that dwell on earth, how much more will the Word’s manifestation of the Father obtain life for those who see God.” The ultimate purpose of creation is that God “who is the creator of all things may at last be all in all, thus simultaneously assuring His own glory and our beatitude.”(1 Cor.15: 28

charge God with evil in the apparent hope that they can somehow hold God hostage to not charging them with evil while they continue to live in it.

So that's their method of madness. Let me do the deed but not suffer the consequences.

So they sit in judgment of God and condemn His works and how He does things, as if they’re better , smarter, or more righteous than God is.

Perfectly said because that is what we see in these Anti-WORD posters over and over again.

They claim things I never said and, worse, imply my motives, which is an ad hominem.

YOU claim you don't know 'What God is'. If you haven't got past that, how could you believe in God. You have posted - how can you believe something you don't know and that you need proof of it. So how can you claim you never said those things? Spinning?

I ask questions.

More spinning. You do MORE than ask questions - get real.

Since you want proof and God says 'by faith' - what are you doing here? Calling His Word 'error' in many of your posts when you don't even KNOW 'What God is' - WHO God is.

You aren't here to build up but to tear down. Christians live by faith, not by sight. Metmom's post was right on and your own posts prove it.

No one is implying anything - your posts speak for themselves.

This isn't about you - it's a thread about 'IN CHRIST ALONE'. God's WORD REIGNS, Always has and Always will.
