In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

.
If you see such a “false creed” then please describe it in detail, including all the tenets of the alleged ‘creed’ so that we can discuss it rationally.

> “The endless shrill tirade against ‘Rome’ that takes place here on a daily basis, the fabricated images and outlandish lies told for no reason other than to damage the Church, the oh so carefully worded insults meant to finesse the rules and game the mods certainly aren’t intended to promote Christian ecumenicalism.”

.
“Christian ecumenicalism,” whatever that might be!

Certainly not scriptural:

Matthew 10:
[34] Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
[35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
[36] And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
[37] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
[38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Is that the ecumen that you seek, or is it the gathering of every wacko cultist on Earth under the head cultist, the pope?

Exactly! But that’s not for the warm and fuzzy types, they require stroking, not truth and not equipped for spiritual warfare.

Sheesh.

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

"You made this soooo easy..."

You are again moving the goal posts to "prove" yourself right. The incidence you are referring to were for issues not related to the reasons being discussed.

Perhaps, with your "expertise" in the rules of the Religion Forum, you can explain how your post 1381 is not making it about me or bringing issues from other threads. Seems to me you just stepped on your own tail....twice.

Christ is the head of the church, His body

That is very true but in Matthew 16 (as well as Luke 22 and John 21) Christ singled St. Peter out as the Apostle in charge of the visible Church that is His Church.

Peter was but an Apostle, the "senior" one, but one with equal authority to the others.

Who called the "Council of Jerusalem"?
Who presided at this Council?

JAMES!, that's who.

ACTS 15:19 Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God,

The list of popes is without interruption from St. Pater.

The "list" is fiction, retroactive history, with many "corrections" over the years, with many gaps exceeding several years, and many Anti-Popes.

Why, then, do you propose an Inquisition in the United States exclusively

Because I am an American. I think, most West European countries are in a similar need of an inquisition, but it is not for me to call for it.

It is doubtful whether it is for you to call for it in the United States either. :-)

Some rabid cliques are just hardly worth a gnat’s burp any more.

They are recently so stuffed with and wrapped in thick multi-layers of White Hankys,

their internal neural communications seem to get quite mangled and short-ciruited far more than the usual mess . . . which was bad enough.

I keep expecting them to come out with

Gregorian Chants all done in wails and whines.

Or maybe there will be a CD with a rabid men’s clique wailing with responding rabid women’s clique whining.

. . . with a wail wail here and a whine whine there . . .

old McRabid had a burrow . . .

We agree about the main thing which is Christ died, was buried and rose again for our salvation that God gifts to us by grace through faith - you know, the GOSPEL.

LOLOL.

Sometimes the writing here is so well-written you can actually hear the inflection of the words.

"You know (pause) the GOSPEL.

Sadly, many FRoman Catholics have given us plenty of evidence they do NOT "know the Gospel." When asked, they recite the first four books of the New Testament, and leave it at that, seemingly unaware Christ referenced and preached "the Gospel," and therefore He actually spoke about an idea, a situation, a reality, a truth that seems to escape RC apologists and which they clearly cannot articulate.

More's the pity.

As I was perusing the letter that Peter wrote, I found this....

Sounds pretty Calvinist to me.....

1 Peter 1

1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who are elect exiles of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:

May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

That is a perverse statement coming from those who conduct a daily Inquisition whose purpose is to impose a Calvinist orthodoxy to the Religion Forum and rid it of any Catholic influence or voice.

lol. The RC threads outnumber Protestant threads 10 to one, if not more.

And Calvinists don't worry about numbers because we know God gets what He wants. We are grateful and confident that all those who have been given faith in Jesus Christ as Lord, God and Savior are His because "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

Our job is to trust God and to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in truth. Where we find error, we reference God's perfect word, and that's about it. It's up to God to give ears to hear and eyes to see; to renew the mind to know the things of God; to take away the heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh that loves and worships Jesus Christ alone.

Or not.
