In Christ Alone lyrics
Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ
I find that hard to believe considering the pictures I saw on the link and the standard of living that existed in those days.
What'd Luther have? His own private coach?
Where was his airplane? Helicopter? Army? Bullet proof Luthermobile? Palace? Did he have his own private physician?
No link, no credibility...
MB: “It’s okay for a penniless monk to magically become a wealthy landowner (why not go back and research the times and see just how high up the rungs of society he ascended), isn’t it? Now when I point out that double standard you guys get all upset. “

How about money from the family. He wasn’t born a penniless monk. Besides, you didn’t read the link at the other post where it says that he was GIVEN property.
I find it hard to believe that he was given more wealth than the Catholic church has and that ANY pope ever lived a spartan lifestyle.
MB:”Some day, you guys will realize that the Reformation was primarily secular - and it was about power and wealth, not about theology. Theology was the means to power and wealth for the Reformation. It was secondary, and only a tool to use.”
Sounds more like you just described the Roman Catholic church. The escapades of most of the popes, with their immorality and debauchery and absurd trials of dead people from their hate filled motives, shows that more than anything Catholics can claim about Protestantism.
A simple google search of corruption of church in Middle ages provides a plethora of information about the condition of the RCC during that time. Hardly pristine and pure.

the word you wanted to stress by capitalization there was “close” - just for the record
THX.
Thats NOT even CLOSE to the coming reality.
LOL.
LOL!
He was given stolen property that he gladly accepted. What does that make him, besides a democrat?
Actually, many errant Catholics are socialists. The Catechism specifically addresses socialism and states the Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with "communism" or "socialism." and "Regulating the economy solely by centralized planning perverts the basis of social bonds.
That does not explain the many Protestants socialists, one of whom occupies the White House now.
While I'm sure that there are Protestants who do indeed live in the White House, I can't think of any mentioned by name.
And Luther & Calvin came into being in and through the Catholic Church.
By your logic the "illegitimate" children may as well be called Catholics.
The choice is not yours to make. It was chosen for you while you were in hiding after your hit and run attack.
Pope Apologizes for Churchs Treatment of John Hus
Pope John Paul II offered an apology for the Catholic Churchs treatment of the 15th-century Czech priest and theologian John Hus, who was burned at the stake as a heretic. Today, on the eve of the great jubilee, I feel the need to express deep regret for the cruel death inflicted on John Hus and for the consequent wound of conflict and division which was thus imposed on the minds and hearts of the Bohemian people, he said.
The popes words came in a speech on Dec. 17 to participants of an international John Hus conference, sponsored by the Vaticans jubilee committee and the Czech bishops conference. Hus was burned at the stake in 1415 after being condemned as a heretic at the Council of Constance. Hus, an advocate of moral reform in the church, had doubts about the primacy of the pope that eventually led to his excommunication and death.

The quote from the current Catechism is worthless
The quote expresses regret in the cooperation with the torturers adn condemns torture. This is why the Inquisition in any its modern form will not cooperate with any government as it abuses human dignity, and will not, of course, itself abuse human dignity.
Yes, and the Catechism cannot retroactively re-write history.

The Catholic Church is no longer a secular power
To the extent that over 1 billion Catholics in the secular world listen to the Church, she is.
Rediculous. To speak as if any significant number of Catholics "listen" to the Catholic Church in their daily life is pure fantasy.
Let me help remind you.....Barry and Michelle.
And anyone who suggests that they know otherwise is a fool. (Spell check is your friend)
Standby for a warning for making things personal. If it doesn't come from the mod I'm sure it will come from one of the self appointed hall monitors........No, wait, the unofficial ones are only ever issued to Catholics.
Exactly.
Can you say "Kennedy"?"Kerry"?"Biden"?"Pelosi"?
Not to mention the Catholics I've worked with who voted pro-abortion Democrat because to them spending more money on socialist hand out programs like welfare was more important to them than their position on abortion.
Black Liberation Theology is nowhere near Protestant, any more than it is near Catholicism.
Obama has admitted in his own words with his own mouth that he is muslim. To claim that he’s Protestant for whatever ridiculous, convoluted reason you can produce is intellectually dishonest to the highest degree.
If you think the muslim-in-chief is Protestant, that Black Liberation Theology is Protestant, then you need to own there folks who apparently are still members in good standing of the Catholic church.
Hmmm,......

And there’s all these Catholic leftist, socialist promoting democrats in Congress who are still, (were in one case) members in good standing in the Catholic church.

Representatives who are (were) Catholic...
Edward Kennedy Democratic Roman Catholic
John F. Kerry Democratic Roman Catholic
Kirsten Gillibrand Democratic Roman Catholic
Jack Reed Democratic Roman Catholic
Patrick Leahy Democratic Roman Catholic
Patty Murray Democratic Roman Catholic
MariaMaria Cantwell Democratic Roman Catholic
Nancy Pelosi Democratic Roman Catholic
Do you have any idea how petty and how much of an agenda have against Protestantism you seem to have by even attempting to make that comparison.
Obama is no more Protestant than you are.
Obama claims to be Protestant EXACTLY like that list of Dem politicians you listed. If they are representative of the Catholic Church like it has been claimed ad naseum on these threads then by the same logic ya'll are stuck with Barry, Michelle, Billy-Jeff, and Hillary.
