Where are all the feminists? Why has not the war begun?
Because the feminists, as you mean them, are not a part of Free Republic. (Perhaps there is an exception or two, but I haven't seen them.)I will fight forever to protect a woman's right to vote, engage in politics and get equal pay for equal work with men. But when it comes to the Catholic church, I go along with the teachings of Maria Simma. (Do a search) Women should be nowhere near the altar and communion should not be taken in the hand, or from anyone other than a priest. We understand our role as women in the church, even those who are not married and/or do not have children. Femininity is sacred. Christ knew that. Not many men understood that then, nor do they today. But the women understand.

I agree with you 100% on this. In the Eastern Church, we have long preserved the ancient canons regarding women serving in the Church. Women in the Eastern Church are not even allowed near the altar or behind the Iconastasis, unless they are changing the linens. As for “ministers” who give out the Sacrament, there is no such thing. Only the Priest or Deacon or in some cases, the Bishop may administer the Holy Eucharist.
