Premillennial Darbyism and Scofieldism run amok.
I don’t understand. What “scam”?
It’s a work of fiction, lighten up, Francis.
Great idea and conception, horrible follow through by some dim-wits who thought they could make gazillions by the continuance of writing bad books....(and they did).
Seriously, some of the worst written books ever are the later installments of the "Left Behind" series.
"I turned to him and said, 'You a Christian?' He said,'Yes, I am a Christian, 'I said,'So am I,' and we shook hands. "I said,'Are you a liberal or a fundamental Christian?' He said,'I am a fundamental Christian.' I said,'So am I,' and we smiled and nodded to each other.
"I said,'Are you a Covenant or dispensational, fundamental Christian?' He said,'I am a dispensational, fundamental Christian.' I said, 'So am I,' and we slapped one another on the back.
"I said, 'Are you an early Acts, mid-Acts or Iate Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian?' He said'I am a mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian,' I said,'So am I' and we agreed to exchange Christmas cards each year.
"I said,'Are you an Acts 9 or 13, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian?' He said, 'I am an Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian.' I said, 'So am I' and we hugged one another right there on the bridge. I said,'Are you a pre-trib, or post trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian?' He said,'I am a pre-trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian.' I said,'So am I,' and we decided to exchange kids for the summer.
'I said,'Are you a 12 in or 12 out, pre-trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian?' He said,'I am a 12 in, pre-trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian.' "I said, You heretic, and I pushed him off the bridge!"
...Author Unknown
The pseudo-biblical Darby-Scofield theory on which the novels/films are based being pawned off in the church as truth.
Truth be told, I own DVDs of the first three films. If a fourth comes out, I will likely be purchasing it once it hits a sufficient discount (i.e. Wal-mart $5 bin). They're not great films by any means, but they do have their moments.
I'm not sure I'm getting your point. Are you referring to the pre-trib/post-trib debate as a scam, or the pre-trib view as a scam, or do you mean something completely different?
I got to the third on before I gave up. It sounded like a good concept for a story, but it got lost in the writing.
Only because the year 2000 came and went. They were surprised by 2001 and since they still had a contract to write the books...
Somehow I doubt your ‘title’ is the name of the article/press release.
How does that work on the RF, mod?
I don’t consider pretrib/posttrib to be a salvation issue.
As my pastor says “Pray for pre-trib, prepare for post-trib”.
I have to agree. By the end, they felt like first drafts. And the production of the novel itself. How many words were on a page anyway. Ten?
I am a rather voracious reader. I started reading this series when it first came out. By about book three, I just could read no more. Pure drivel - awful writing and what can I say? I think someone could write the story well but these guys weren’t the ones. I know people who love these books but they are ordinarily not people who read very much.
Guess I’m a snob.
ha ha... I couldn’t even make it past book three in the series. The only book I could say was worse was “Bridges of Madison County.” And I know people who thought that was a great story. People don’t read much today and so they don’t realize what is truly good and masterful writing.
You and me, both. I quit reading after the third book as well. I don’t even remember the name of the third book. In fact, I don’t think I even finished the third book, if I recall rightly. Now when you are in the middle of a story and can’t finish it, what does that tell you? (Bad writing)
Good advice.
LOL!
