One of many easily found writings on the subject from a viewpoint other than that of an Anti-Mormon activist like those that dwell on this board - PD:
"I Have Said, 'Ye are Gods'": Concepts Conducive to the Early Christian Doctrine of Deification in Patristic Literature and the Underlying Strata of the Greek New Testament Text
Abstract: In this paper, I cite several statements of the Early Christian Fathers with respect to the doctrine of deification, giving evidence that this doctrine had wide geographical distribution among both orthodox and heretic alike from the early post-apostolic period to the end of the third century with little variance of wording and no evidence of being formulated through councils of any kind--something that could only have occurred so early in time if deification of man were actually a doctrine taught early on in the pages of Christian history presently lost to us.

Mormonism is a low view of God, and a high view of man.
You’ve got to totally massage scripture to come up with a view that says men can become gods, or that the God of the Bible was once a man.
There is no such thing as the “Doctrine of diefication”. It certainly is *not* found in the Bible unless you totall twist scripture.
agree.
What an "ecumenical" method of beginning a thread!
Unlike the caucus threads, the article and reply posts of an ecumenic thread can discuss more than one belief, but antagonism is not tolerable.
When one can use the dodge "you can trust the Bible insofar as it is 'correctly translated'", one can ignore any passage which calls into question his heresy. The Bible is clear: there is only one God. "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour." (Isaiah 43:10,11)
There is only one God not many. And his servant, the incarnate God, is God himself and He is the savior. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." (John 8:24)
If one does not believe that Jesus is God, the Almighty God, Savior, the only God that is, he shall die in his sins.
I was wondering about that myself.
Good...
But will you defend it or run and hide behind a list of links again.
oops forgot to do that ping thing
You deny that you are an anti-Mormon activist? Puleeze.
I don’t hide behind anything. I supply links for people to find the truth of particular matters. You can call that defending if you want. /shrug
The burden is still yours, not ours nor the lurkers.
Your claims, your responsibility.
If you have nothing to hide and you are sure of your answers this should be easy.
You claim the truth, you claim we are wrong, you should defend your truth.
You are interested in the truth aren't you?
GF said nothing of the sort.
The point was about the antagonistic way you began your thread.
Links for people to find the truth of particular matters.

Your personal commentary in the article is antagonistic. The ecumenical label will be removed.
You are interested in the truth aren’t you?
Precisely why I continue to provide it.
I am really beginning to think you have a reasoning/logic issue.
Back atcha.
He highlighted “Anti-Mormon activist like those that dwell on this board”. This is a statement of fact and is not antagonistic in any way.

Hey thanks for the “interesting” links. Don’t forget to read the original article now.
Yes I saw it. I think it was a bad call to remove the label but hey he’s the boss. It also helps me know where to “draw the line” eh?
Don’t forget to read the original article.
