**Divorce wounds people, deeply. It wounds the spouses and the children.**
Indeed it does, I agree with you.
But would the spouse and children be more wounded in a household with a verbally, emotionally and physically abusive husband and father.
Wouldn’t it be better for the wife to get the children out of that situation. Think about sexual abuse by the father. It does happen.
Some interesting statistics there.
Of course there are situations where physical separation from a spouse is warranted.
However, the vast majority of divorces occur because people “aren’t fulfilled,” “have grown apart,” “want different things in life,” etc.
Many divorces occur for reasons that the same people would think were not weighty — or hopeless — enough to justify giving a dog up to the pound.
On your mentioning of adultery and divorce, it makes me wonder exactly what are the causes of divorce? Has anyone ever read any statistics on what breaks up marriages? How many break up over money problems, adultery or whatever other issues there are out there?
