I'm afraid I cannot agree completely with you on the following:

The thief doesn’t qualify for Biblical Salvation under those descriptions and his specific circumstances." Sorry, I disagree completely here. The thief did precisely what Jesus said God commands as the work that one must do to obtain salvation, he believed upon Whom God had sent to deliver those who trust in Him.
