Beginning the Torah all over again!
This is a period of Jewish holidays, lots of travel, family gatherings and vacation. Sukkot is on right now.

...We often take the first verse in the Chumash for granted. In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. Nevertheless, a careful reading reveals a deep problem. The word Bereishis, does not at all mean in the beginning since it is followed by a verb, and in Hebrew grammar the word Reishis is always found in the construct state, it is always connected to word which come after it. Therefore, the translation would have to be, Bereishis (not Hashem), created God, the Heavens and the Earth.
If the verse wanted to teach us the order of the creation, it would have stated BaRishona (at first) instead of Bereishis. (see the commentary of Rashi in 1:1)
Rashi brings a fascinating Midrashic interpretation. The word Bereishis is actually the word Reishis preceded by the preposition beis which means in, with, or for. Therefore, the translation of the verse is, For Reishis, Hashem created the Heavens and the Earth. Hashem created the world for the sake of the Torah as it is written, (Said the Torah) Hashem created me as the beginning (Reishis) of His way, the first of His works of old. (Proverbs 8:22)
The Holy Zohar (1, 24b) explains Bereishis, With (or by way of ) Reishis, Hashem created the Heavens and the Earth. Reishis means Torah. Hashem created the world with the Torah. Hashem looked into the Torah and created the world. (Zohar Terumah 161b)...

...Ch. 1, v. 1: “Breishis boro” - In the beginning of the creation of - Rashi says, “Ein hamikra ha’zeh o’meir ela dorsheini,” - this verse does not say anything except interpret me homiletically.
This seems to be a double negative, and Rashi could have said that the verse says that it should be interpreted homiletically. This teaches us a most powerful lesson. Right at the beginning of the Torah Rashi points out that it is impossible to understand the Torah just in the literal sense.
To stress this Rashi says that this verse has no simple “pshat,” which one might consider as Torah “shebiksav,” but rather, requires Torah “sheb’al peh.”
Although Rashi does afterwards offer a “pshat,” he does this only to give somewhat of an understanding “al pi pshat,” but the verse does not say “Breishis b’ro.” See B’eir Yoseif who says this and much more. Rashi comments, “Bishvil haTorah shenikras reishis darko (Mishlei 8:22) uvishvil Yisroel shenikru reishis tvu’osoh (Yirmiyohu 2:3).” This could be Beis-reishis, there are two factors in the beginning of creation, the actual Torah, and Yisroel, i.e. the sages’ interpretation of the Torah, called Torah sheb’al peh.”...
Although I cannot cite sources (I only remember things I have picked up here and there), I believe that another truth alluded to in the first pasuq of the Torah is that the creation is made from the 'Alef-Beit. The Torah begins Bere'shit bara' 'Eloqim 'ET. Grammatically the word 'et is merely the sign of the definite direct object, meaning that 'Eloqim (the subject) created the heavens (direct object). However, since this is a two-letter word made up of the first and last letters of the 'Alef-Beit and has no translation, it alludes (remez) to the fact that the 'Alef-Beit was the first thing created, as the sort of raw material, and then from this the universe was made.
