Being for the Death Penalty, rightly administered, doesn't mean you are pro-death, just pro-justice. Secondly the teaching of the Church states that a state has a right to carry out death sentences against those rightly convicted of capital crimes.

You’re wasting your breath on this guy, I think he was making a parody of “anti-Catholic” Protestants, not seriously arguing the Popes were against the death penalty.

Thank you for that post.

I have had to explain a couple of times this week that while I am Catholic and pro-life, the Church does allow that the State has the right to impose the death penalty.

The death penalty is not vengence. It is the State’s justice and says that this person cannot live in society because of the heinousness of his actions.
