They can't read the Greek alphabet or even one line of the Bible or the Iliad in the original though. I suppose it's a useful kind of Greek, but not the kind I like. My Latin is really shaky (except for the Ordinary of the Mass and certain of the Psalms and antiphons, which I've learned by heart), but my Greek is good enough to read the Bible in the original.
