Is September 8 the actual, known birthdate of Mary or is it an observed one like Jesus’ on December 25?

September 8 is the traditional date. Throughout the centuries and in different places there have been other dates chosen by The Church, but this date seems to have been the most common and is now the date the feast is celebrated both in the East and the West.
