I am not a knowledgeable man when it comes to gematria, but my understanding that the year 5771 seems to mean:
HaShem wants us to purify ourselves during the next year.

Please note the first of the
Haftarah readings for
Shabbat Shuvah in the initial post on this thread. It reads "Hosea 14:2-10."
I failed to note that this corresponds with Hosea 14:1-9 in some Bibles (such as the KJV). I regret this omission and any confusion it caused.
