You'll have a hard time finding a Mormon source that will lay it on the line.

Here is a link to lds.org, (the official site of Mormonism on the internet) concerning Temple ordinances. This link will spell out what Mormons belief about what it takes to partake of the blessings associated with the atonement. When perusing this site - ALWAYS make sure to click on the tab marked additional information - that is where you will find a deeper level of LDS teaching - but certainly not all, they don't publish it anywhere.

Temples are places of learning. Their principal purpose is to provide ordinances necessary for the children of God to enable them to return to dwell with Him. Temple ordinances lead to the greatest blessings available through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Everything in the Church—the meetings and activities, the missionary efforts, the lessons taught and the hymns—all lead to the work done in holy temples.

That makes sense. Thank you for the links. My kid has a 3 hour class in town today, and now I know what I’ll be researching.
