Well then why don't they use "KH", that's self explanatory. Like Khadafi, they also spelled it Gaddafi. Now it's "Qaddafi".

Yeah, they used to spell Khadafi but then someone decided it wasn't "Islamic" enough.

I don't spend a lot of time worrying about how to spell the sounds my dog makes either. They should just spell it like it sounds...woof.

Well, I don't know who decides how we transliterate other languages. Personally, the Chinese transliterations are equally annoying. Foreign words and name should be transliterated in such a way that Americans pronounce them, not how they are spelled in the original.

Who cares how they are spelled in their native language! Chinese used to be transliterated so we could pronounce it, then they switched to current transliteration rules and Peking became Beijing, and Mao Tse-tung became Mao Zedung. Chinese has a lot of half tones that cannot be reproduced in English, so the best thing is to spell them as close as possible. But the Chinese insist on oding spelling acrobatics which are totally meaningless to an English reader, such as the fine differences between the Chinese shi and xi.

I’m down with every bit of that. (a little American ebonics there)

Screw the PC translation czars. Support redneck (American) spelling!
