Who come up with these idiotic spelling translations from Arabic? Does some quivering liberal egghead just think they're sooo bleepin' smart?

We don't need them destroying our language as well. In American English, a "Q" is always followed by a "U"....like "Qur'an" for example.

Annoying words like "Al Qaeda" and "Al Qaida", "Qatar" and others should be spelled Alkida, and Kattar, or Guttar. If that offends them they can go pound sand.

Next thing you know we'll be seeing spellings like:

Qatie Qouriq

Gimme a break...support redneck spelling of islamic terms.

Actually, there is no hard and set rule on how to transliterate from Arabic. It's pretty much up to an "egghead" to decide. The Quran" is also sometimes spelled the Koran, which is how I spell it.

Maybe the Arabic "kh" is a guttural sound which doesn't correspond to our k, so they substitute. I find the same variability in spelling when it comes to Biblical Hebrew, so much so that the same word doesn't even look the same in some of the variants. Then there are the apostrophes (') which I have no clue how to pronounce.

It's bad enough as it is; adding "redneck" spelling would make things even more complicated and difficult to track, imo.
