On a previous thread, I asked the Catholics in this forum to comment on this. I didn't get any takers. What say you, Catholics? Do all graces pass through Mary?

Do all graces pass through Mary?

It's axiomatic -- all one has to do is ponder it honestly.

That, of course, is the rub.

“Graces from God” only pass through Him, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

But non-deities like Mary and Paul surely were capable of, at one time, showing God’s Love, Mercies, and Truth.

However, I know you Catholics think people in Heaven can do all sorts of things for you. Who’s your Patron Saint of Lotto?

I went to Catholic High School.

But, this stuff is the one reason I am an EX Catholic. So many things does the Church rightly. So many errors and scandals doth cover it.

For shame.

“As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, ‘Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.’ He replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.’ “ Luke 11: 27-28

God the Father and Jesus, her Son, love Mary so that they can refuse her nothing. It doesn’t hurt to have her in your corner when you pray, and she certa1nly can shower you with grace.

Without malice, I disagree. I encourage you to find in Scripture, the Word of God, any text that demonstrates there is any other mediator between man and God besides Jesus Christ. 1 Tim 2:5

Also Jesus sent His Comforter - the Holy Spirit, NOT Mary, to guide us.

I would call it heresy to suggest otherwise.

no. NO graces pass through anyone. Our relationship is direct with God/Christ/Holy Spirit.

Mary was NOT divine.

~ PRAYER ~

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle
 Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we  humbly pray,
 and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
 by the power of God,
 Cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits
who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
 Amen

I come from a Catholic background but now a non-denom! While I love the Catholic Faith and many of its participants just can’t recite the ‘Hail Mary’ prayer-—and over and over again incessantly. Kinda makes me bonkers!
However absolutely love the ministry of the “Priests for Life”......take the gems and just pass on what doesn’t resonate within.

It would have been nice if Padre Pio had explained this statement on the web page you present. Without explanation, even as a Catholic I have to say no, all the Grace of God does not pass through Mary.

Never heard that all graces pass through Mary. We ask Mary to pray for us. Jesus does listen to Mary as he did at Cana. Mary’s power is from Jesus.

"All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother."

I can go along with that. That's what I was taught by every Sister Mary What'sHerName at St. X's.

This is clearly unbiblical teaching. The Bible teaches grace comes through the Lord Jesus Christ. Mary is never mentioned in the Bible as bestowing grace. Grace can only come from God and His Son.

If you don’t believe me, read the whole New Testament for your self and then decide.

4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

1Co 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

I can't tell you why, but I feel the Holy Spirit urging me to post this story on this thread. Forgiveness is so important.

The Word Among Us

Meditation: Matthew 18:21–19:1

“So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.” (Matthew 18:35)

There is a story about a world-weary elderly man after the time of the French Revolution who was reduced to begging. He wandered from town to town, seeking alms to keep himself alive. Upon entering one small town, he made his way to the church, hoping for a handout. He wasn’t a churchgoing man himself, but he stayed there because of the steady stream of passersby.

One day, after watching the beggar on the church steps, a young priest of the parish approached him. He gave the beggar a cloak and invited him to his own house for a meal. The beggar hesitated, saying he was not a religious man, but the priest insisted. For several days afterward, the priest invited him to find shelter in the rectory. Finally, the beggar agreed and spent many days receiving the care and hospitality of his new friend. Eventually, through this priest’s witness, the man decided to come back to the church.

He tearfully confessed to the priest that he felt alienated from God because of the guilt he felt for betraying the family he had worked for as a young man. His employer had entrusted his wife and children to his care during the Revolution, but the man betrayed them. He handed them over to the authorities, and all but the youngest child were sent to the guillotine.

After telling the priest his story, the man lifted his eyes and saw on the wall a portrait of the very family he had betrayed. He asked where the painting came from, and the young priest, with tears in his eyes, said that this was his family. He was the youngest child. Everyone else had been executed during the Revolution. Uttering the words of absolution, the priest added, “and I forgive you as well. Be at peace.”

We may not have to forgive such a grievous wrong, but we are all called to forgive—especially those closest to us, who often hurt us most deeply. Forgiveness like this opens the gates of heaven and allows God’s grace to be poured out on us and on the person we forgive. So let this story inspire you. And let it move you to be merciful as well!

“Lord, help me to become a channel of your mercy in my home!”

Ezekiel 12:1-12; Psalm 78:56-59,61-62

Padre Pio
Padre Pio said: "Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother." "Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today." "All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother." With great tenderness, he always spoke of the Blessed Mother as "my dear little Mother." He always said: "The Blessed Mother is the Mother of all Mothers." On Padre Pio's death bed, his final words that he kept repeating were: "Jesus-Mary; Jesus-Mary; Jesus-Mary."
PhotobucketWhy would someone dismiss so quickly the words of a stigmatic (Padre Pio bore the wounds of Christ for 50 years; his body lies incorrupt).

Oh boy here we go. Of course they do, by His choice. Just like He chose to come to us through her womb.
