For They Heard Them Speaking in Tongues & Praising God Acts 10:46 [Missionary experience, bk]

FOR THEY HEARD THEM SPEAKING IN TONGUES AND PRAISING GOD!
ACTS 10:46

The train from Colon, Panama, brought several passengers to the village of Frijoles one Sunday morning. Many had heard of the miracles of God in this church and came for physical healing. One was an elderly woman known as Mama Mecha.

That morning Mama Mecha received Jesus as her Savior. After the service, the congregation went to the inlet of Gatun Lake, which is a short distance from the church, to baptize the new converts. Her testimony of her conversion that morning stirred many hearts.

As Mama Mecha came up out of the water, she lifted her hands in praise to the Lord, and suddenly she began to speak in another tongue. Standing in the crowd was a man from Spain. He had been an archeologist in Egypt for several years and also served as a Roman Catholic priest in Spain and Panama.

Late that afternoon, while on the train returning to Panama City, he said to missionary Arthur Edwards, "After her baptism, that elderly woman spoke in an ancient* Egyptian language and quoted a psalm of praise from the Old Testament. There is no way she could even speak one word of that language which I learned in my work as an archeologist in Egypt. That had to be God."

Dr Leland Edwards
Former Missionary to Panama
Missions Director, 1965-1988

Lord, I think you for giving me a prayer language. Let me use my gift to glorify you. . .

PRAISE GOD FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS.

This parallels the experiences a close friend of mine had on a tour of Pacific Northwest Native American tribes one year.

THANKFULLY, those with an authentic experience have no need to be the least bit bothered by folks who have only shallow, empty, unBiblical, human arguments.

I’ve had better weeks! LOL.

Probably going to drive to Cottonwood South of Sedona to see my blood dad next week. Should be good to get out of town before the new semester begins.

I forget what region you’re in.

Watch that wood chopping . . . one of those things best done withOUT any alcohol! LOL.

What else have you been up to this summer?

Are you all set for things to fall further apart?

How’s the family?

Health?

Pets?

What insights do you have on life, God, the condition of the Nation and planet and the American way this Sunday?

Jesus said to her;
"Iam the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in me will live. . ."
JOHN 11:23-26

Maria, a Bible school student in Papua New Guinea, received word her mother had died. As she journeyed to her village, she talked to her Heavenly Father. "God, I don't understand, I know that she is with you now, but my mother was young and what about my little sister?"

The Lord said to her, "Maria, I am going to raise your mother from the dead."

Maria responded, "Yes, I know you are coming for Your own."

When she arrived home, the scene was typical: woman had covered their bodies with mud and some had cut off the tips of their fingers, letting blood drip on their bodies to show the spirits they were sorry.

Maria told the villagers that she wanted to pray for her mother.

"You are a bit late," they mocked her, but they showed her the hut where her mother lay.

Maria prayed, "God, please show my people they do not need to mourn." Suddenly she realized that she no longer heard wailing. She ran out of the hut to see her mother standing in the middle of the village.

"I have been somewhere so beautiful, with beautiful streets and houses!" she said. "Someone touched me and said, 'That is your house. You may enter, but if you do, you must stay.'"

"I have a three-year-old daughter," she replied, "I need to go and take care of her." And with that, she awoke, to the amazement and great joy of her family and village!

Mason and Virgene Hughes
Former Missionaries to Papua New Guinea

Thank you, Father, for your resurrection power! Help me to believe you for great things in all the circumstances of my life...

It doesn't say how long she had to travel to get back to her village. Given transportation in that region, probably hours.

From the Heroes thread today...(thanks, Kitty!)

So Wonderful that No One will Even Think about the Old Ones Anymore.

Be Glad; Rejoice Forever in what I will Create." (Isaiah 65:17,18)

Praise God!!!

ibid p 188:

"I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
MATTHEW 16:18

In Sri Lanka tourism and trade are mainstays of their economy. But tourism has been negatively impacted by civil unrest and there continues to be a mass exodus of professionals and local business people to other nations.

The ethnic war that began in the mid-1980's continues to bring bloodshed as the opposition political party is still on the warpath, trying to topple the government. Public demonstrations and violence are common, and the security and political climate of the nation is very volatile.

Recently a militant Hindu group attacked the homes of Foursquare believers and drove them to shelter in a little village church. Many of our pastors have been threatened. But all of this is only half of the story.

Foursquare ministers in the north central province conducted a series of revival meetings in a small village. A Buddhist man who was totally deaf began to hear for the first time. The following day he brought his twelve-year-old son who could not speak. He was miraculously cured and spoke clearly. More than 30 people gave their hearts to the Lord.

In the first six months of the year 2001, the national church grew from 515 to 725 house churches. One leader said, "In the midst of the turmoil, war, bloodshed, economic distress, and political upheaval, the Church is alive and well."

Eloise Clarno
Former Missionary to Sri Lanka

Thank you, Lord, that you are building your church in Sri Lanka and around the world and that the gates of hell will not overcome it. I pray now for churches and nations that are on my heart today . . .

I’m convinced we’ll see it.

I believe it will come in the midst of great suffering, however.

It seems that only then will a significant percentage of folks in America let go of the ‘good life’ enough to truly SEEK GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

Maybe they won't be letting go of anything. Maybe the 'good life' is about to be stripped from us all.

Yes, indeed.

Yesterday during conversation, I mentioned I was praying for the Rapture...to which I was told..."Oh no! Don't pray for THAT!! I want to LIVE!!"

I shook my head and thought of the ping regarding those who'd rather live in this world...Hell and all!!

Oh dear!! Hopefully she will consider what the Rapture really means!

I noticed that, too.

I was really hoping for more spiritual response from that, but I guess it goes to show the stupifying power of our lifestyle and possessions.

I think it would help more if every 9/11 they replayed the ENTIRE thing as it happened, instead of clips and commentary about it.

I cried unto you, and you have healed me.
PSALM 30:2
[replaced KJV thee's/thou's]

As God's people take Him at His Word, and boldly confess their faith and ask Him publicly for healings and miracles, God hears their prayers and grants their requests, as former missionaries Edgar and Darlene Coombs testify:

"In August of 1978 a miracle occurred in our Foursquare church in Penonome, Panama. One of the Sunday School boys died on the operating table at one of our local hospitals. His grandmother had taken him there for the removal of a cast from a broken hand.

When the doctor saw the hand would remain deformed, he ordered an operation. A second anesthetic was ordered when the first one failed. Suddenly, the attending doctor and nurses realized the child had died from the overdose. The medic went into the waiting room to inform the grandmother of her loss.

Trembling, she stood to her feet and felt she should pray, but she felt ashamed to pray in front of the people crowding the waiting room. Finally, she just fell to her knees and threw up her hands and cried to God to resotre the child's life. She also asked God to heal his deformed hand.

Just then, the medic returned to tell her that her boy was alive again! She rushed up to him and begged him not to operate on the hand. The doctor then came out and told her to take the boy home because the operation wouldn't be necessary! The boy had been completely healed!

Edgar and Darlene Coombs
Former Missionaries to Panama

Father, give us the courage to boldly proclaim our faith and to reach out to others and pray for them in every situation. Help us to swallow our pride and to put aside doubts and fear . . .

But what about “speaking” with all caps???

Seriously, while you always have fakery and extremism, and the devil also even doing some miracles (Ex. 7:11,22; 8:7,18) we would not have the Bible and Christianity without real miracles. How did people know Moses and the Lord and the apostles were sent from God? Simply because they said were, and could not be wrong? Or because they had a lot of fits and dreams? And or because an unknown angel appeared to them, and contradicted what has prior been established as form God? Or because they abundantly manifested supernaturally power, personal purity and complimentary conformity with prior established revelation? (Acts 4:33; 17:2; 2Cor. 6:1-10; 12:12; Rm. 15:18,19) For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. (1 Corinthians 4:20) Not that i am or think i am much of an example of that.
