You’re right, that could be weird, but when the 5.7 hit on Easter Sunday, it was followed by a couple of 5. aftershocks - the same day, and over the next few days.
Aftershocks of the same size or near the same size is not all that unusual.
If the 7.6 had been first, yeah, but it wasn’t. The depth is also interesting, all were around +600km. That is pretty deep!
I don’t remember any set of earthquakes like that.

Question perhaps someone could answer for me....I never understood the idea of aftershocks...why are they not just smaller earthquakes. Or does aftershock not raise the fears that another earthquake might bring. IE: just a play on words....
