"How can they reach so many different conclusions?" There is no authority within Protestantism. Each is free to interpret Scripture for themselves and the standard is that the have to "feel" it is right. That has resulted in the establishment of tens of thousands of denominations founded each by its own alter pontiff. The only glaring inconsistency to this is the Protestant denial of the right and ability of Catholics to receive the direction of the Holy Spirit because we seek the input of those guided by the Holy Spirit who came before.
