Because if that person is basing his salvation on Christ plus works, he are not following the gospel that saves. And his mind has been blinded by the god of this world. Who, by the way, always desired to add to God's Word. Even now. Christ's FINISHED WORK isn't enough. Our works MUST be added to His FINISHED WORK. Straight from the god of this world. Designed to keep a person focused on his works. And off the Finished work of Christ.
