I am accustomed to anti-Catholics, failed Catholics and kooks finding anything they want to on the internet. I'll bet you have a source for rhubarb pie recipes that also slanders the Church.

The main source that amateur RC apologist use is from the World Christian Encyclopedia: A comparative survey of churches and religions in the modern world Second Edition, David B. Barrett, George T. Kurian, Todd M. Johnson Oxford University Press
That laughable number includes Gnostics, Mormons, Jehovah's W's, etc.. Also many thousands of independent churches with identical doctrine are counted seperately.
The same source for this confusion also counts 242 Roman Catholic denominations, which is the number I will be using for future unity discussions.
