I agree.

I just think that it is . . . inconsistent . . . disingenuous . . .

to criticize Buddhists et al re their idols—and practices related thereto—and give a pass to RC’s regarding their statues and practices related thereto—when the

OBSERVABLE BEHAVIORS AND SO MUCH OF THE TALK ABOUT SAME

IS VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL.

Certainly only God knows the heart.

OR: “I have no idea of the date the Jewish Scripture was “closed”, finished, nothig more to be added.” —> and yet didn’t you say in post 5078 “It was closed but the Hellenists attempted to add to it.” and “The Council of Jamnia compiled the only valid Scripture. The Hebrew Scripture. “ —> the Council of Jamnia being held in 90 AD, leading to the erroneous statement that valid scripture did not exist before 90 AD, hence invalidating +Paul’s statement that all scripture is profitable

I will not, cannot, list all of them. That is all I am willing to discuss at this time

ok, so you make a statement and toss it out there without backing proof? Is God a Triune God?

Namely that you're repeating what you THINK The Church is, not what it actually is.

Who knows about the RCC? That's always the cop out - someone doesn't know. I was very much involved with the RCC - born into it, schooled, processions to Mary, rosary, sacraments, confessional - the whole deal. And I could add a lot more but not necessary - I don't have to prove to you what I know or who I know.

Sp save your ' you don't know ' for someone who doesn't know. Deny all you want. It's no skin off of my nose. I'm free at last! Thank God, I'm free at last!

the Catholic Church is the one enemy that Islam has hated throughout.

...and the one enemy that was instrumental in beating back the Moslem hordes on three crucial occasions, saving Western civilization:

732 AD, the Battle of Tours
1571, Battle of Lepanto
1683, Siege of Vienna, lifted on September 11, 1683.

I don't know how Mary saw herself or what words others would have used to describe her faith in God the Father and God the Son, e.g. Jew, disciple of Jesus Christ.

Mary was told by the angel Gabriel that Jesus is holy and would be called the Son of God:

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. - Luke 1:35

But Peter was the first to receive the divine revelation directly from the Father of Who Christ IS.

He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. - Matthew 16:15

To God be the glory, not man, never man.

Another one of your non truths.

Lacking wisdom and discernment screams from your posts.

I have a good friend who became Catholic as an adult. She told me one time she was deeply impressed by the “materiality” of the Sacraments and worship of the Church. She was from a strict, fundamentalist background originally and now loves so much the richness and sheer beauty of the entire Catholic tradition.

Praise God she found her church home!

Thank you so much for sharing your testimony, dear brother in Christ!

While we are here on earth we, as children of God, have many jobs to do. God indwells us with his Spirit at our rebirth and we grow in our walk with him every day. I am definitely not the person I was 40 years ago... We all grow, but some grow faster than others based on their openness and sensitivity to the Lord.

God could just snatch us up when we come to him in faith, save us from all the garbage and pain and bring us home immediately, but he doesn't. Why? I think for a number of reasons. We, through his leading, are to be an example to others. Through the "foolishness of preaching" he uses us to reach others. We are left here to bring glory to him - one way or the other. Sin is something that, until we get to that sweet by and by, will always pester us, though hopefully less and less. God even uses that to draw us and others closer to him. It all depends on how we see it.

Beautifully said! I agree wholeheartedly.

By the way, those are also very "Catholic" sentiments. Just sayin'.

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Replying to a serious post with a silly, animated .gif image of a guffawing dog is pretty darn lame, if you ask me.

At least you didn't assault us with technicolor fonts and gigantic letters splattered every which way. Not this time. And for that I am truly grateful.

NOTHING in the Catholic Tradition contradicts in any way the Holy Writ. Nothing.

Okay...cool! Why the insistence that Scripture AND Tradition are equal then? What would be wrong in saying tradition is subordinate to Scripture? I could live with that.
