I think you're implying a sinister or malicious intent or attitude. Jesus did it all the time asking questions to stump the Pharisees or 'learned leaders' of the day. Same with Paul and Apollo. Do you think when David says in the Psalms "The fool has said in his heart - 'There is no God'" that he's being mean? God mocks the unbelievers all the time in the Old Testament. Read when He mocks those who worship something created from wood, stone or metal with one's own hands. We as Christians can certainly do it with a way that states there's a better, liberating way to think and believe and have our being.

It's all a matter of how you do it and whether you're self-righteous in declaring God's Truth and men's lies.
