Apparently, references to fatherhood are now considered "sexist." A few years ago at church on Mothers Day there was honor and praise for all the mothers in the congregation. On Fathers Day there was a lecture and prayer for men to be better fathers.
I felt insulted and until that day I hadn't realized how left wing and socialist the Catholic church had become. Now I just sit there listening to see how much leftist crap comes out of the priests mouth. I wonder if that's why attendance has dropped off in the last few years.

I've found it depends greatly on the specific parish.
Our very large PA parish is socialist through and through. Petitions for our leaders to to do this, petitions for our leaders to do that. Guitars and goofy songs.
Went home to upstate NY last week to find the parish of my youth as grounded as ever. Meaningful sermon, traditional hymns, worthwhile petitions. Unfortunately, it is shrinking, and has had to absorb the parish of the nearby town.
When we returned to PA, we went to mass again at the local "everyone's welcome" parish. I told my wife it was the last time we'd attend mass under that roof. I have discussed things with the Msgr at the parish, but when I asked about socialist petitions, made-up guitar music, and Obama bumper stickers on parishioner cars, he lectured me on charity, open-heartedness, and tolerating those with differing political views.
I'm going to register with the NY parish and send them our weekly offerings until I find a worthwhile parish in our local area.
