Turbans are often secured with a replica of the sword, so as to be both compliant and nonthreatening. The Sikhs I have worked with in the militray were some pretty cool dudes - very professional.

Thanks for the article. The Sikhs I have known have been very humble and good people. I believe that according to a Sikh, the highest honor is to give your life in defense of another.
Contrast that with Islam, in which it seems the highest honor is to kill as many innocent non-believers as possible.
