"But yet, we have the Pope upset that LE was called in the Belgium case."

To quote Ronald Reagan; "There you go again". The Pope was not upset that law Enforcement had been called in. In fact, the Pope was meeting with hostility from the Belgian press and police because of his aggressive stance against homosexuality. The Pope was upset with the manner and complete lack of respect for all persons involved. His actual words follow:

"In this sad moment," the Pontiff wrote, "I would like to express my particular nearness and solidarity with you, dear brother in the episcopate, and with all the bishops of the Church in Belgium, in the wake of the surprising and deplorable manner in which the searches were carried out in the Cathedral of Malines and the place where the Belgian episcopate was gathered in a plenary session that, among other things, was also to have treated matters connected with the abuse of minors by members of the clergy."

Benedict XVI underlined the need for both Church and civil authorities to deal with the sexual abuse crisis, but added that it should be done "with respect to their reciprocal specificity and autonomy."

"In this sense I desire that justice take its course," he concluded, "with a guarantee for the fundamental rights of persons and institutions, in respect to the victims, in recognition without prejudice of those who are committed to cooperate with it and in the rejection of all that casts a shadow on the noble work assigned to it."

Once again, smoke and mirrors. The Belgian "investigation board" was not turning over evidence and involving law enforcement like they promised. This is why they were raided.

Homosexuals didn't rape children, pedophile clergy raped children. Stop blaming homosexuals for problems in the Catholic church.

Apparently, anti-Catholic bigots are permitted to break the rules, even after the RM warns them.

Now we know. And that was blatant, too.

As a Catholic I don't expect fairness in any public forum. Anti-Catholic bias is deep and cultural within the Protestant and secular communities. It is the last socially acceptable prejudice in America and is even Politically correct in that it is a point of commonality between the left and the many on the far right.

Before you start whining about rules, perhaps you should check out this post from the Religion Moderator before defending Natural Law.

Because neither of you have clean hands, your abuse reports only serve to annoy the admin moderators.

Cardinal Law would be proud.

It seems you are beside yourself to again find cause to animate your Christianity -a Christianity it would seem defined solely by hatred of Catholicism.

The suspect in question has been charged -not found guilty yet. I think it a bit early to celebrate and do your anti Catholic victory dance -as if this incident has ANYTHING to do with the One True Church...

It is unique since most priests prey and young boys rather than grown men. Perhaps it's a step in the right direction for the "Universal" church.

Is the "Universal" church like a Universal remote control?

Most priests don't prey on anyone

I guess they just rape them and get it over with. Stalking takes too long.

"I guess they just rape them and get it over with."

Some would believe that by attacking the priesthood they would damage the Church, but that tactic has never worked because it is ultimately Christ who acts and effects salvation through the ordained minister. The unworthiness of the latter does not prevent Christ from acting.

As St. Augustine stated: As for the proud minister, he is to be ranked with the devil. Christ's gift is not thereby profaned: what flows through him keeps its purity, and what passes through him remains dear and reaches the fertile earth.... The spiritual power of the sacrament is indeed comparable to light: those to be enlightened receive it in its purity, and if it should pass through defiled beings, it is not itself defiled.

The tragedy is that because the priest acts only as a conduit animosity toward his office and not his person is animosity towards God.
